I don't want to jump the gun too soon but I think Geelong will win the Premiership this year and possibly next year. Despite losing to Collingwood earlier this year by 67 points, Geelong have bounced back and are a much better team. Much better than last year. If you were to put the Geelong 2007 team and Geelong 2008 team and play them against each other in a game, this years team is a shoe in.
Friday night's game was an absolute cracker. From the 2007 premiership side we were missing 7 players. King, Ling N. Ablett, G. Ablett, Wojcinski, Milburn, and for the last half, Paul Chapman. Plus we are awaiting on the return of All Australian defender Matthew Egan from injury. Unfortunately it won't be until next year. 5 of those 7 missing players are All Australians (King, Ling, Gary, Milburn, Chapman) plus another all Australian in Matty Egan. Although I wouldn't count King and Nathan now, but I'm only comparing to last years side.
The Dogs and Hawks have had an exceptional year. The Dogs have only lost 2 games and a draw so far. The 2 non wins (before they played the Cats) they lost by 3 points and a draw, their next big loss was an embarrassment. (Was Vs Geelong), not a bad effort for a team who is still lacking experience and structure. Hawthorn being possibly the second best team in the competition and still waiting some players back from injury.
Geelong had lost Ling and Ablett and Wojcinski the best tagger in the competition and the Brownlow favorite. Despite losing those 2 players the Dogs managed to stick with Geelong for 3 and a bit quarters before Geelong blew them out of the water and won by 11 goals. The game was at Skilled Stadium and I think the crowd won the game for them
More bad luck with Dasher out having his fluid replaced at the hospital the night before.
Missing Ling, Ablett, Wojcinski (there goes our pace) and Milburn. What else could go wrong? Chapman did a hammy and will be out for 2 weeks. Ablett and Ling are likely to play this week, but could miss out. Considering the past 2 games I was nervous as hell about them, plus losing those players. I think Geelong have dug very deep and scraped at the bottom of the barrel to come up with the 4 points in both games. How can they lose so many quality players but still beat really good teams?
Still waiting about 2 weeks for the team to have some quality players back. The next 2 games we play Richmond and Melbourne. Could this be destiny for Geelong, back to back premierships?

but "losses" weren't the words I wanted to use. Perhaps the OP should have read "honorable losses" (even though one of them was a draw) But thanks for pointing it out.
