What chance do you think that at some stage we will get to see all of our Aboriginal boy's playing in the one side soon? Personally, I'd love to see Lovett-Murray and Cole rebounding of half back, Dempsey running wild on a wing, Rioli and Lovett roaming across the half forward line and Ryder rucking. What do you think?

I'd love to see that at some stage, maybe later in the year

wont happen, rioli will give it away after he plays two more games to get to his 100.

waste of a great talent

Yeah i think "dreamtime" just about sums up the chances of all 6 playing in the one game...

Well he's on 99 games now, so if in fact he is going to retire after 100 games, surely we should play him this weekend and get it over and done with.

I'm pretty sure he's on 98 and I don't think his knee will let him play.
I wouldn't be suprised if we don't see him for a couple of weeks, unfortunately.

Sorry, 98 games then. But who cares, if he is just using us for 100 games, play him the next two weeks and get it over and done with. Who cares how his knee is afterwards. He will be retired and no longer our problem.

1. Does he have a son? Because we are also using him to get to his 100 games if we can get a father/son rule out of him.

2. Rioli has played some great games for essendon and its increibly uncaring to say that you don't care how his knee is after he retires. He might not be playing for us but he will still be a past essendon player.

yeah rioli wont be playing, and i think the others need more time in the reserves. Is the VFL that bad becuse ryder is shocking in the afl, maybe being dropped made him hungry to get the ball.

He has a daughter to his first wife. No son at the moment, but he remarried over the last pre-season so you never know.

And the comment Nuts4Bolts made about Rioli using us couldn't be further from the truth. Dean Rioli doesn't play AFL football to play AFL football. He is playing AFL football to play for the Essendon Football Club. If he wasn't at Essendon he would have walked away a long time ago.

It's sad, he could have been remembered as a great, and some of that blame has to go to him, but not all of it. His knee is in a real bad state and many others would have thrown it in.

I hope he gets to 100 games, but it's no guarantee. I'm glad I got to see him at his best, I'm shattered I never got to see enough of it. We're a better club and a better side for having him.

Gee Longy, you know a lot about our players and their personal lives.

I take it back about him using us. I love Dean, I really do. But I just don't see any point in playing him whether he's on 98 games or 100. And if his knee is really that stuffed then it's unfair of us to keep playing him. And if we are desperate to get him to 100 games, play him the next two weeks. Even if he only get's on the ground for 5mins. Let's put him out of misery and let him get on with his life. Then we can worry about getting Dyson, Nash and these sort of players to step up, so we aren't relying on Rioli.

Dyson, Nash and the like would get a lot more out of playing with Dean Rioli than not. If he is fit to play we should try and get as many minutes out of him as possible. As it stands he most likely won't be fit.

He's such a good educator, he's so good at teaching players where to run and how to find the footy.

I understand how it could benifit getting the 100 games out of the way and having an extra kid take his spot. But IMO as a club, the kids that are playing will get a greater benifit in taking the field with Dean Rioli, than we would get in playing one extra kid.

And what I said about Dean Rioli's personal life isn't all that uncommon news.

But he doesn't actually play all that much, Longy. And when he does it's not for that long. Sounds like he will be a great coach for us.

I agree. But I still think, while he is on our list we should give him the opportunity to play as many games and for as long as possible and not just cast him aside as soon as he's played 100 (if he gets there).

Nah, he won't be a coach. He's an on field educator. If we do see him out there again (it's not something you'll see on the TV), take the chance to watch Deano. Watch the way he sets up our forwards at stoppages, what the way he directs traffic. There is more to him than just kicks and tackles.

Me too. I can handle him playing 12 games a year, manage him. Hope he can get 12 games in next year as well. But if he is too retire after 100 games, if his knee can't handle anymore football, then the sooner he gets to 100 games, the better.

Remeber that game he played against the Doggies a few years back at Telstra Dome, when he kicked 6, I think. (I'm backing you to know.) Was close to the perfect game. Not a heap of possesions but everything was silk. He just knew where to be.

Sorry, i've mixed that reply into yours. This Politics essay is doing my head in.

I remember him playing a good game against the Dogs in 2004 but he only kicked a couple.

Don't think he's ever kicked 6 in a game, 4 against the Saints from memory.

I was sure he booted 6, but now not so sure. I'll have to look into it. Do you know anything about Political advertisng and the effect it has on democracy? Need about another 500 words.

Just looked it up. His best was 5 against Geelong in 1999 in what was his 8th game. 16 disposals, 5 goals, 3 tackles, 2 Brownlow votes.

As for the other stuff, can't help you there. Try www.findarticles.com
Was a goldmine for me when I was at uni.

That might be the game I was thinking about. Although he did carve up the Doggies one day. Cheers for the website.

But back to my original question, do you think the 6 Aboriginal boy's will play together? I'm sure Dean would want to and I know Sheedy would want them too. Bit like the Danihers.

I think we are more likely to see Hird, Reynolds, Watson, Fletcher and Neagle all play together than we will see the six Aboriginal boys.

But I would like to see it.

God Sheedy would love that. How about play the son's of past players and all 6 Aboriginals in the ones side. I'm just getting stupid now aren't I.
