I've heard a lot of talk about this year's draft being low on talent... as I live in QLD i have absolutely no idea about the playing stocks coming through and who potential draftees might be. Does anyone know who the possible KPP's will be for this years draft and where they'll go? We might have between pick 6-9, would that get us anyone good or should the pick be traded? (not something I'm very comfortable with but given the current issues with KPP's and if the draft is weak, could be worth it).

On that note, if the draft IS weak, will other teams see first round picks as worth less than previous years or will they see a top ten pick as of as much value as ever?

I am no draft buff but I did watch the National Championships which probably gives a small insight into what the draft will be like this year.I have no idea where any of these guys will go but some KPP that will likely be in the mix are

Beau Dowler-Big forward from Vic Metro.Opinions seem to change on him all the time.Been described mainly as a leading tall forward but at the champs he took some really nice contested marks.People have him going anywhere from 1-7 or 8 from what I have seen.

Mitchell Clarke-Ruckmen size KPP from WA.Has what I would call a Brad Ottens type build.Good leap and kick but was quiet in most of the championship games.I havent seen enough of him to form an opinion but most in the know seem to think he will go early. Was some posters number 1 prior to the champs but has dropped down since.

Marcus Drum-Smart and smallish CHB from Vic Country.Been talked about as a prospect for a long time.Heard estimates of anywhere from 5-20 as his likely draft position.

Cleve Hughes-Tall forward from SA.Very skinny atm but he showed a fair bit.Covers the ground well and a good kick.

Others that seem to be rated a fair chance of being drafted are

Pat Ryder-WA aboriginal ruckmen/KPP
Nathan Grima-Tasmanian tall forward.Kicked 10 in one game.
Matt Spangher-Rangy KPP from Vic.Played really well at the champs.Has some big fans.
Josh Kennedy-Big CHF from WA.Seems to be a bit of a hype player.Alot of people were instant fans of his.

There would be some posters on here who could probably help you out with a bit more authority.Doc and Old School are usually pretty well hooked up with that sort of thing and I think most on this board watched the champs on TV.Failing that the Draft and Trading Board is excellent for all that sort of info.

I would say a pick between 6 and 9 would safely get us a shot at most of those guys but whether they are worth it or not is a question for someone who knows more about them.I think the value of the top 10 picks would be slightly down this year. The midfielders are definetly not in the Cooney/Wells/Ball/Judd category.Maybe Murphy from Vic Metro would be close to that class.

Thanks man... hope we use our first pick on a KPP player, even if he isn't necessarily the best player available at that point in time, we need to fill gaps in our team.
