Im still eating humble pie from last year when Thommo was a revelation in his first year at the Crows.
I thought... who is this guy with a penchant for the Crows captaincy? H'ed wanna be good.
And he was!!

Talk about an inside midfielder who is strong and complete..........well nearly complete.
I do remember a couple of games where he lost the plot and gave away some stupid frees/50M penaltys, but Ill forgive him for that.

Seriously, had we not picked up Thommo we wouldve struggled to make the top four.

Will he do it again?

Ease up a bit TopJars.

Scott Thompson was good and will get better in the next few years but in no way was he the difference between top and 5th resulting in 4 extra wins.

He still has areas of his game to improve upon, as you said his silly indiscretions with the 50-meter penalties but that is just an area of his game that will come with personal maturity.

Scott Thompson is a very good young player and we are very lucky to have picked him up for Tyson Stenglein but like a few other he has to back that good season up with another or last year will simply be a waste.

Option 5 for mine.

Yes it was no fluke and yes clubs will keep him in check a bit more as well.
He will not disappear from the radar though. Good player.

Pleasing to see your choice. Almost guarantees mine at 2. ;) :p

If you saw him at training, he looks set for an absolute boomer. His fitness levels are right up there with the best, whereas last year he played on pure ability and low fitness due to having no pre-season.

My tip is he will be our dominant mid-fielder this year.

Sounds good macca. Cant wait to see him firing next year. I think he has got what it takes to be a possible leader in the future. A leader must lead by example and get the hard ball do the one per-centers. he definently fits into that category does need to control the odd dummy spit but every good player needs a bit of mongrel in em just not to much.

Last year he had a very interrupted preseason and barely played a preseason game at all (he didn't play any for the Crows and may have had a half in the SANFL). So now that he has had a far better preperation for 2006 there is no reason to think he won't be at least the equal of the 2005 version.

And on top of that he is at an age and level of experience (passed the 50 games mark last season) where players seem to find consistency and take their game to another level.

So all the signs point to another good year for Scott Thompson.
