I watched a bit of the freo/port game on telly yesterday. I noticed haselby came into a bit of lip from medhurst due to a missed scoring opportunity.

Hase initially acknowledged his mistake, but then medhurst must have kept on with it because we then saw hase react again quite indignantly towards medhurst.

I've heard rumors that medhurst is not too popular with his team-mates ??

Did anyone else see this incident ??

Medhurst is getting too big for his boots.
Seeing him at night clubs he is a disgrace and obviously he thinks he has some devine right to tell one of our best players and one of the competitions best players off.
Frankly I think he needs to be ripped into gear.
Speaking of unpopular with their team mates Kerr couldnt be the most popular player either.
Rumored that Medhurst was a eagle supporter and Kerr was a freo boy.
Sounds like a trade should be on the cards.

Medhurst is one of those players whose success depends on the quality of the ball being delivered (which is not unlike most specialist forwards going around). When he has a sh*t game, it's usually partly due to the ball coming in so he doesn't get much of a chance, yesterday being a case in point. So I can see why he would get frustrated if he's 20 metres in the clear and a teammate takes a potshot from the boundary. But if he goes around bagging top players who usually put the ball on his chest, then he's not going to be Mr Popular around the club. Hasleby is one of his chief providers, it's not like he ignores Medhurst 10 times a game.

He is a very ****y. I wouldnt say he was unpopular at the club - As a young kid still I am sure he will be spoken to about that incident aswell as his own form away from home.

I don't know if it ran in the papers over in Perth, but The Age had a profile piece on Paul Medhurst.

The URL is: http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/articles/2003/06/07/1054700440586.html (sorry if that comes out broken across the lines)

Anyway, a couple of key quotes from that article:
"Paul Medhurst is the most confident player at our football club," [Cameron Schwab] told ABC radio [last year].

"If footy's not fun any more in two years, I'll quit - I never want it to become a job," [Medhurst] said.

Sounds to me like he is a ****y little git, and that that is actually the main thing he has going for him. The question will be, does he really want to fight on when the going gets tough, or will figure he has proved his point by "making it" and quit?

Croady must have played ok, the boots are being sunk into Medders now... (not just here...)

Since the start of the thread was a question originating from the Freo/Port game, I'll say this:

Medders had every right to be angry with the midfield. The delivery into the forward line was disgraceful, and the midfield was the reason we lost the game.

But, I agree the way he went about showing his frustration was wrong.

Look Medhurst is different and has some electricity about him. If he didn't have these abilities he would never have made it to the AFL.

A good team is made up of many different characters who blend in well, Medhurst is just one in this team.

The incident is just one of those things that happen and I reckon the players won't be harping on about it.

Most teams have at least one player who everyone else (plus some of their own supporters) thinks is a complete pole smoker. A few that come to mind:

Nigel Smart
Jason Akermanis
Brendon Fevola
Brodie Holland
Essendon...Mark McVeigh?
Space Cadet Medhurt
Cameron Mooney
Daniel Harford
David King
Peter Vardy
Che C-Collins
Matthew Richardson
Austinn Jones (for spelling his name that way at least!)
Nick Davis (well, Pies fans would think so)
Phil Read (say no more!)
Steven Kretiuk

Medhurst is the most confident player out of Fremantle. He is a great player.

I wish that all the Dockers players had Medhurst's confidence. You guys would be a better team.
