Can you help?

What does it mean when my computer starts up in Safe Mode (as it did today, then I rebooted and it seems ok since) and what can I do if it happens in the future?

And, Can I delete all of the junk that accumulates in my C:\ Program Files folder safely? Most do not have an uninstall bit.

Probably not, but I can try :D

It means that it probably wasn't shut down properly.

Normally it comes up with a prompt, so if you're at the computer you can select normal.

If not just reboot, it is quite a normal function.

Hmm, Could be a bad move. It really depends what it is. But if there is an install option always take it. Check if the program has its own uninstall function aswell.

If not then yes delete away!

Safe modes nothing to worry about, sometimes if windows was restart or not shut down properly it does that

In regards to deleting stuff in C:\Program Files, it really depends on what kind of junk youre talking about... if youre talking about specific software that youve installed, then the best way to do that is through Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs

If the programs not there, look in the folder and find an uninstall file.
Finally, if you really dont want the program and theres no easy way of uninstalling it, then just delete the folder ;)

Phew.... nothing like a bit of tech support after hours

:p

yeah, what they said about the safe mode

sometimes if a program cant be un-installed form the start menu it can usually be un-installed via going through the control panel and clicking on add-remove programs
a lot of the times thats the easiest way to un install something

hope this helps
