i will get it at some point, but I hope it isn't as easy as the demo
3 holes -5 nearly every time

that sounds like me when i play golf minus a flying club going nearly as far as the ballNo way mate. I absolutely owned in the demo, different story when you start out in the main game.
You basically start as a weekend hacker. ie can only hit it 230yards, the aiming point is so massive its hard to hit a green let alone the stick, try to cut a corner over a creek and your player will choke and chunk the shot.
If you finish better than last, and 20 over, in your first tournament in career mode you're doing awesomely.
Tough game.
On that note, whats the best way to improve your golfers abilities as quick as possible? My rookie sucks balls atm.

I cracked the code last night. Just do a heap of the tiger challenges.
They start off pretty easy, you just have to beat a grumpy old bloke who hits it shorter than you. Winning them boosts your skills and unlocks new equipment that increases your power.
I found most of the skills challenges too hard with a stock golfer.
As for it being boring after 2 weeks, i dunno...its a golf game. Generally its the online play that keeps you coming back. And in this version you can not only play other people online, there's a new challenges feature. If you pull off something cool, you can upload it to the web and challenge others to do it, and gain points for doing it.
Problem I'm having is that during Tiger challenges on random holes the bloody thing freezes. It doesn't seem to have any pattern. Doesn't happen at all in any other parts of the game.
The best way to do it I have found is to firstly tackle the skills training.
In each discipline pick an easy 1 and keep repeating as you build up your potential.
Once you have your potential where you want it continue with Tiger challenges.
The normal challenges will gain you money and potential and unlock courses and such, but your skill will boost up when you beat the players in the middle of each circle.
Good Luck.
