AFL Club
Richmond

06 January, 2009
The Richmond Football Club has announced the inclusion of former player Tim Livingstone as Player Development Manager in the football department.

Livingstone will work with the players in the areas of education, career development and personal growth, liaising closely with the General Manager of Football, senior coach, Club psychologists and the AFL Players Association.

“This is an exciting acquisition for Richmond as we continue to build our football department in the area of player development,” Tigers’ General Manager of Football Craig Cameron said.

“Tim will become an important contact for the players and the league in personal and professional development, education and guidance and counselling,” he said.

Among Livingstone’s responsibilities will be to provide a focal point of contact for players, the AFL, the AFLPA and the Club administration, and to promote and assist players in accessing alternative career and education career pathways.

He will also ensure the smooth transition of Richmond players entering and exiting the Club, and work to implement an extensive player induction program.

Livingstone arrives at Punt Road Oval from the Brisbane Lions, where he spent three years as Victorian Manager.

He has also worked as Director of Sport at Xavier College and Head of Sport at St John’s Regional College.

He played eight games for the Tigers in the early 90s and enjoyed an accomplished VFL career with Box Hill.

Dale Weightman will move into the role of Club Relationship Manager, responsible for looking after the club relations with Coterie, Supporter, Sponsor and Volunteer groups, as well as maintaining a role with the football department in skill acquisition and induction programs.

I would have thought Flea would have had a more hands on approach? Seems a waste.

This is the perfect role for flea - liasing with blokes like me and others in coterie groups who remember him in his heyday.

As mentioned the role of development manager has rightly gone to someone a bit closer related to the role.
