Dont know about anyone else, but not much talk about this guy in trade talks, especially when it comes to the tiger heads in here.
Kind of rate this guy and looking at his style of play, I would suggest that TW would not be doing us any harm in fitting him into the backline, as an experienced attacking HB. ;)

Don't know about the rest of you guys, but I would steer clear of Notting.

Doesn't offer enough to warrant a trade, might as well grow our own talent

dont know about you dude but, "Doesn't offer enough to warrant a trade", doesnt offer enough to warrant an opinion, either. ;)

What I mean is that, Notting is a decent enough player but he's is almost 28 and therefore we would be better served looking for a similar player elsewhere, although being a 2 time premiership player would be an upside. That's just my opinion, whether you take it on board or not, I don't care.

no probs dude. I understand where you are coming from.

I get what you mean, that Notting is a decent enough player but he's is almost 28, hence we would be better served looking for a similar player elsewhere. Is it the clour of his hair that bothers you? maybe we want someone that didnt wear maroon? i am thinking hard now dude.
Yep. i am going to take everything you suggest on board, i want to be a stand up comedian, your kind of stuff will slay them. ;)

Think he is 27, kicking is hit and miss, extremly one sided has been found out when not playing in a great Brisbane side.
Apart from one (losing) grand final game, he was pretty ordinary even in great Brisbane sides.

Even though I dont mind Notting, and i like the way he goes about his footy, I wouldn't see any point in getting him at Richmond.

Sure, he's a premiership player, but drafting him would only stall the development of players such as JON, Casserly and Whitey, who could all be battling for a position at HB next year.

I'll concede that he would be in our best 22 if we got him next year, but will he be when we hopefully become a force about 3 - 5 years? I doubt it. On the other hand, JON, Casserly and Whitey could all very well be.

maybe only if we got him for next to nix. he is getting too old to be giving up much for unless he was a champion (which he is not). they can have rodan.

Hardly anyone remembers, but we did 'grow our own talent' with this one - Tim Notting played a few games for us as a top up player in the Ressies in 1995.

I would not mind getting him if we lose a few mid range guys through drafting. Perfect insurance policy for us, but like all insurance policies, you have to look at how it compares with other 'policies' and how much it costs.

welll lets just say this, IMO from all the maybes suggested in this forum, forgetting about AKer, the only 2 players that have any sembalnce of anything that relates to a positive move by us are Notting and Skipworth. The rest are all lucky dips where there is no way anyone can say they will perform the way we hope they will. Especially Polak. Like, lets have it again? oh he needs a change of scenery etc etc? How about if he doesnt and we get him and are left with the dud that Connelly couldnt get rid of?
I mean, what are they going to do to make sure it is that? Ask him? and what is Polak going to say, naaa, it wasnt the scenery, it was me and i want to party? Because he really doesnt want to extend his AFL career? ;)

I'd be happy if we actively sought out Notting. I rate him and i think he could offer us more than what many think. Pretty hard to make your star shine brightly when you're surrounded by Aker, Voss, Black, Power and Lappin. Six is a crowd in other words.
if Notting stays at the Lions this year, watch him improve with Voss and Aker out of the way.

Too old, not a core player, we're developing our own in the positions he plays, can't see much reason trading for someone like him.

Not often I agree with you, but I do.

Polak is a ?

Don't forget Freo picked him up at 4!!!

Freo will play hardball as they have been ridiculed about their draft history.

In the end it may prove to big a gamble or price to pay.

Used to be a big fan of Notting, bit of a meh type player for me now. Wouldnt break the door down trying to get him but worth considering for a late draft pick ala P. Bowden last year. Could be useful giving us extra run for a few years until the youngsters learn what gut busting running is all about

yeah he might be a meh player now, but if you look at the way the Lions are leaving the lair in droves, you can understand how all of them were right behind the coach and not with Aker. Strange how they all fell into line then and now they are all leaving the club in a mass exodus. So somthing that wasnt right at that club and disputed by that club,as an Aker thing, isnt really just an Aker thing is it?
Would be tipping that a good bet for next year, would be Lethal to be first coach to be sacked or resign. ;)

i think notting could be a real good pickup for us...for the right price

experience, a bit of pace and a thumping kick never go astray in this modern game.

could be a case of giving him some responsibility and expectation (moreso than he had at the lions) and watch him blossom....but then again he could be too similar type of player to bowdens for one team to handle:p

"Solomon ...Copeland....Notting"

Has a nice ring to it :thumbsu:

Would fit right in with Terry`s youth policy

The only "Notting" i am interested in is the "Hill Hotel"

M. Graham - P. Bowden - Humm , Would fit right in with Terry`s skilled youth policy as well. ;)
