Jason Ball. You were a disgrace on Saturday. Directly responsible for two stupid goals which came as a result of complete unprofessionalism which resulted from you being not good enough any more and just getting frustrated. Fumbled the ball a million times, kicked helicopters, dropped marks and was ruckman whilst our midfield went almost entirely without the ball for two and three quarter quarters.

Just shocking. Seriously, put Ericksen in. That was pathetic. What's the point? Has been terrible for several weeks now.

Jolly wasn't much better.

Enough's enough.

I don't understand the ruck rotations at the moment. I appreciate Jolly is more of a traditional size, big boy ruckman but he seems to still be fairly mobile: it seems that Roos keeps running them 50/50 or even 40/60 (Jolly being 40).
Has Ericksen bulked up enough to play seniors?

I agree with Ericksen. He needs some exposure now that we cannot win the flag with the current ruckman. He will not learn much in the ACT comp and some game time off the bench will be good experience for him.

Current ruckman being Jolly or current ruckmen being the Jolly/Ball combo (so Ball being the culprit)?

And yet we won the clearances in the last quarter 17 to 3! And almost clawed back a 45 point defecit!

Give the guys a break. They played ******** and recovered. Cant say as much for Essendon.

Personally, I thought Ball's game was OK - it's Jolly that I think has been very disappointing in recent weeks. Either way, they both need to improve significantly & perhaps there needs to be some selection pressure placed on them.

I thought Ball was one of the more influential players in the final term.

I can't recall the second goal that Ball apparently gave up (not disputed whether it is true - just can't recall). But the free kick against him for "fighting" with Staff has proved to be unwarranted by subsequent events so its a bit unfair to blame him entirely.

I agree Ball's form has been disappointing of late though.

Ball is struggling, but still doing a job.
How is not looking at the ball in a centre bounce after we have conceded a goal, with ten seconds of the half to go doing your job? It was a ********ing disgrace. Didn't even look at the ball or attempt to ruck it. Watched as the opposing ruckman took a straight bounce, unopposed, and sent it into the fifty for a goal after the siren.

As for the free kick he made high contact. As we have seen all year the Swans will get slaughtered if the umps are given half a chance. WHEN WILL THE SENIOR PLAYERS LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND STOP GIVING AWAY STUPID FREES? It could easily be argued that the high contact constitutes a reversal of the free (even though, as it happens, the umps missed the two week reportable contact by Stafford).

He's 100% to blame.

The umps are out to get us. For my entire footy following career I've never brought into the debate about umps being biased. Until now. We get crucified week in, week out. The umps cost us the Richmond game, and nearly cost us the pies game. Some say we only won 1 quarter against the tigers therefore didnt deserve to win. That quarter was such an absolute domination it easily exceeded the 1st 3.

We have the most free kicks against us in the 1st half of games (umps try and even it up a bit after that). We have the most against us inside defensive 50 (where free kick = free goal), Yet we have one of the best tribunal records (therefore a clean team).

One of the reasons we get so many free against us, particularly in D50, is a number of our players have poor tackling techniques, and are often caught tackling high.

Ball and jolly do something that the other talls like doyle and LRT are unable to do, and that is to take crucial marks. But yeah, ball hasnt been shining lately.

Ball is a much better bet than Ericksen now. Ericksen is built like a pipecleaner and needs at least 2 more years to build up. I thought he'd been going OK and wasn't anyway near our worst player.

What is the preoccupation with wanting to play young blokes before their ready?

Besides Josh Fraser (and we know how he is travelling at the present) how many other clubs are happy to throw skinny young beanpoles to the lions just for the fun of it?

If Ball & Jolly's form is bad and the coaching staff beleive Erikson is ready for senior football then I am 100% sure the match selection panel will make the decision to drop one of them. Afterall they are judged on wins and if it is going to help them acheive that they will be all for it.

Jolly's drop in form is directly related to Ball coming back into the team.

While he was out Jolly had more ground time and seemed to accept the responsibility. Some players just do not respond to spending half of the game on the bench.

Watching both Ball and Jolly on Saturday, they both seemed to jump early many times and found themselves out of the contest. A couple of times the opposing ruck freely plucked it from the air because our bloke had hopelessly jumped early, which means they were out of the contest, off ballance and had no hope of a second effort.

Our centre bounce work is lacking badly in all facets., let alone having the "hack of the year" Mathews in there.

My opinion- Leave the team as it is and stay that way. All this rotation ******** is stupid. I know we cant win the premiership with ruckmen like Jolly and Ball, but for now, they are 2 senior players we need untill Erickson and others are ready for the big time.
