So our club must look long and short term, because as I've said Reid will overtake Tippett either next year or in 2014.
Sam Reid will probably be at Collingwood at the end of this contract. We all know how Fast Eddie works!

Give too much? You're not offering squat. I wouldn't trade Mckernan for the crap your club has put on the table, let alone Tippett.
Yeah but if we offered Parker that would be, IMO, too much. Keep in mind you guys might of seen the odd game by Parker, I've seen every game he's played for us, and like most (if not all) Swans fans, we love the kid. He's super hard and has a ton of potential. I'm not sure Tippett will get any better, and from what's been said on here and what I've seen of him, he has his faults.

Forget Rohan, Mitchell etc, who are way more important to our club than Tippett. just my opinion...

Mate if this had been collingwood, Reid would have already started pre season training for them by now and Sydney would still be working out whether they could afford the lawyers to deal with the 5 sets of litigation they were left tied up with.

If Joel stays in Adelaide, apparently the Crows will continue to pay for the place he lives in here and what other arrangements he had with us. Don't know why this would be the case. Source - someone from West Adelaide FC.

On Kurt, was at Sydney airport last night heading back to GC. So might have been meeting with Swans officials over developments, looking at some real estate or catching up with long lost "family".

Next year we'd probably be a better side with Tippett, but that's only because Parker is Bolton's ready-made replacement, and once he retires Parker is a walk-up start in our midfield (and was this year until he was injured). He will be more important to us than Tippett in 2014, given the importance our club places on hard bodied, hard working midfields to win ball from stoppages as effectively as we do. So our club must look long and short term, because as I've said Reid will overtake Tippett either next year or in 2014.
Tippett is a gun CHF and will always be more valuable then Parker. I have seen plenty of parker and while solid he will never be a superstar.
KPFs>Mids.

Sighs....rinse and repeat. If those guys are way more important than tippett why will you be making him your highest paid player. Its just nonsensical.

From the AFL trade live chat, surely not.

4:00 PR - the heat was too strong last week...Trying save face and then slide through deal later in week when lots going on

Hahaha, is this guy ****ing stupid or what? Carlton, Collingwood, and Hawthorn could be involved in a trade that sees Judd, Murphy, Pendlebury, Swan, Franklin, and Rioli moving, and I'm pretty sure Adelaide fans would still notice the Tippett trade.

Yep Douglas is worth more to us than Reid.

Luke Parker is a gun. Rohan has shown every indication that he will be, and it probably depends on how his leg holds up. Cant see Sydney parting with Mitchell either, since he hasnt played yet. It makes a lot of sense that these 3 young guys havent been involved in the Tippett deal.

What doesnt make sense is that being a 'premiership player' in 2012 apparently makes you off limits. Looking at that Sydney side, there's guys in there that I wouldve thought you could easily lose for Tippett, and still be happy...

I would hope the crows would keep their end of the deal with Joel. He should not have to wear the wrath that comes from his brother. If we told him we would pay for his accommodation for 2 years then I hope we stick to it.

Remember the Crows paid him more than any other player...I would have had Thompson, Dangerfield, Walker, Sloane, Van Berlo,Vince ahead of him for sure. It proved nonsensical for us too.

You've already got Kennedy, Jack, Hannebery, Jetta, Rohan and Mitchell. No club has 7 "untouchable" midfielders.

Both of those things are very debatable.

I live in Sydney but plan to wait for the GWS v Swans game where there are not to many people and its easy to get down the front. That way my bile will be audible for him. And yes I am that immature
I have no doubt the bile will be audible when he visits Footy Park....i'm all about the group bile. But i'll be listening out for you at the GWS game :)

One man's "gun" is another man's "good". He won't always be more valuable if his form declines, is prone to more concussions etc. Plus as I said, Sydney's focus for some time now has been to build from the midfield and defense outward. That's why our strongest areas are defense and midfield, with an increased emphasis on midfielders who can go forward and kick goals.

We are addressing a weakness, but we've been doing it in a number of ways. Harry Cunningham, Walsh, even Spangher (who had a terrible year with injuries) are all part of the solution too. Gary Rohan once fit will be a huge part. If we don't get Tippett, we have other plans.

Having said all this, I really wish we hadn't gone after Tippett. It has become messy and will a lot of scars on both sides. Had we gone out in straight sets in the finals the talk around our club would've been very much focused on "how can we improve our forward line"...So the pursuit of Tippett was part of a broader contingency plan.

But we can't disturb that Bloods culture after winning a flag together.. ;)
But we can bring in a mercenary who's after money and also wants to use Sydney to steal a flag for his career..

I guess as many as we believe are crucial to our ongoing success? I honestly don't believe any of the players mentioned are less important to us than getting KPF. It's taken us a few years to put this midfield together, and it's a good one now.

TBH I first thought we'd be offering Grundy, and I was willing to cop that, as I thought he'd asked for a trade a few years back. But apparently I was wrong and he came out and categorically stated he did not want to return home, plus he just re-signed. There's only really Craig Bird (who I doubt Adelaide would agree to) or maybe 3 reco's Malceski, who no-one would touch because of his knees. I can't think of anyone else? Bolton's too old, Reid never, Benny Mac no chance...LRT too old, Mattner no (obviously), Shaw too old, Johnson's off limits, as is Smith...Richards too old...the list goes on.

I know why Parker keeps getting named, because he's a bit like the fifth wheel, but as I said earlier, the club loves this kid, and see him as a Jude Bolton clone. Bolton has one year left in him (if he doesn't break down) and then Parker will play for us for 10 years (I hope!).
