Does anyone else see this?

In 2004 Joel was the whipping boy. He had talent but frustrated fans to no end. About round 5 or 6 in 2004 he was finally dropped after years of consecutive games.

When he returned he become the player everyone hoped he would be.

This year Tivendale has shown spurts of becoming a very good player, is it possible that after being dropped he will respond in a similar fashion to Joel Bowden?

Force your next selection Tiv, this is your one big chance to really take a big step forward. If you don't you have no hope of playing finals at our club in the future. Lift Tiv lift!! :thumbsu:

dont worry, in the coming years we will have plenty more whipping boys and scape goats. Next year will probably be the same as this year.

On the verge of becoming a good player?! He's just turned 28 FFS and you'll think he'll click? This is the beginning of the end for tivvers, there will be no big steps forward. I know your an optimist benny but this is quite a stretch.

I don`t reckon Benny ...

For starters Tiv does not possess anywhere near the ability that JB has and secondly ... i reckon TW signalled last week the beginning of the revolution ... the end is nigh for the likes of Krak , Tiv , Hall and Co .

Coburg is flying and the kids are really putting thier names forward .Exactly where we want to be as a footy club , and when the kids put thier hands up you play them without a question .

The only thing i am a little surprised at though is that it was Tivendale who got the flick and not Pettifer . Thought Tivendales form has been slightly better than Pettifers .... One more bad week and we will most surely see him make way for Riewildt/Polo

Benny is such an optimist, if he caught leprosy he'd be on here to tell us all about the great new weight loss program he'd found. :D

On Tiv, the difference is that everyone recognised that Bowden was an unfulfilled talent. I reckon Tiv showed us in the first three rounds the best he's got. He put in a couple of years of shockers in 2004-05, but mostly throughout his carreer he's shown that the form he had in those first 3 rounds is about the best he's got, which only makes him a run-of-the-mill midfielder at best. But he has more runs on the board than Pettifer or Hyde this year, so from that point of view he's a bit stiff to be dropped.

i think you will find that pettifer has the age factor on his side. He will be tivendales age when we will supposedly be at our peak. I'm keen to give petts at least 1 more week, hopefully can play a cracker this week and start regaining the confidence that he played with last year.

i think he just needs a chance. everyone has a rough patch in their career somewhere along the line. a week or 2 at coburg might not be a bad thing but IMO he should last a few more weeks. if he doesnt show much in that time then it might be for the best.
look at whitnall. everyone was on his back a while ago and he came out and got some form back. i think kayne will be back to his 2006 form pretty soon.
although i just got rid of him from my supercoach team so who knows.

Tiv would have been leading our B+F by a long shot after round 3.

ffs what is wrong with talking about a player's future? When did I say Tiv WILL be a star and win our B+F this year? He could get delisted if he doesn't improve so this is a thread highlighting what Joel Bowden did in a similar situation 3 years ago. Both were in 'cruise control' and playing okay but both were dropped and told to step up.

When Terry Wallace came to Tigerland he said he thought Tiv had massive potential, so don't bring up this 'not talented enough' crap Tiv's problem is in his head.
