Lots of positives and negatives in todays game. I am not overly disappointed, except for the fact that we lost to Collingwood, that sucks... but lets face it, they were far too good. They beat us fair and square and we buckled under pressure.

We still managed to score over 100 points, with great efforts by Setanta
(awesome with 5 goals), Murphs and ...Betts for being good score contributors.
Juddy was awesome, Russel played well, AJ was fecking fantastic on Davis and Armfield I thought played a ripper of a game. OH OH!! And I am so glad to see Bower back.
I thought Ratts decision to move Henderson down the back was good, White
played well up front and showed good future prospects.
Lucas showed why he is still in the team.
BUT... McLean... too slow, terrible disposal, needs to be dropped immediately!!
I also think that Henderson needs a stint in the twos, he seems to panic under pressure, he is great at sticking to his man, but his disposal today wasn't the best, he just doesn't seem confident... I actually felt sorry for him when he kicked it toward the boundary ... when it was suppose to go in the middle... hmmm.
I am also going to go as far as to say Garlett needs to be dropped... was too soft today.
Didn't play as well as we did last week, too many handballs, not enough pressure... but a great 1st half of the 3rd quarter (haha)... just need to play like that for 4 full quarters.
Good effort to the boys I thought... hard to beat a side that scores 150 points in a game.

Agree with you bar the silly kneejerk reaction re Brock. Good assessment. :thumbsu:

to be honest im incredibly suprised that Carlton supporters are taking this so well. After your win last week the build up to this game was huge and in front of 80,000+ people I'd be pretty disappointed with your performance, very unaccountable gamestyle imo, very similar to Essendons actually(although you guys execute it better). Good news for Collingwood is that I dont think we even played that well

Thats because the more stable of us supporters are seeing the team in the final stages of development and with 2 more seasons under their belts they should be damned good...

We are seeing Setanta starting to work as a main target forward along with his 3 little helpers who were all in the goals again today (chipping in with another 6 goals between them).

While losing a player to an injury isnt much in the way of an excuse, losing them 10 minutes before the end of the game throws the whole balance of the defence out of wack and we struggled to get settled again.

We didnt play our game that we took with us against the cats and it showed because the pies cant handle the quick run through the middle.

I am upset that we lost... pissed off that we lost by 53 point to the filth, but at the end of the day... we had about the same if not more positives from the games than negatives.

We didnt play well and we lost. If we recover our game for the Aints, we should win.

Have a look at the fixture kids, its Round 6!!
Credit where it's due but fck me...it's the filth we're talking about. It's enough I have to put up with their moron supporters let alone Carlton fans pumping them up.
The Cats fans weren't running around telling the world how good we were last week.

get a grip. Its an opinion.

FFS, "Oh carlton are so great, we cant give a side credit for beating us, god forbid we think collingwood are a good side"

Dont like what i , or others type.........DONT READ IT YA MUPPET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats the point in getting upset about losing by 50 points, we had probably our best team on the park that we can muster at the moment. And its not like we rolled over and died. We showed in patches we are good enough and in others that we are a bit of the pace.

We'd all like to see Waite and probably Robinson back in the fold and Austin, Walker and Hampson are injured who we would like to think would make a massive difference to this side.

The two disapointments for me were Sauce and Henderson, both looked like twos players quite frankly.

With blokes like Anthony and Lockyer running around in the twos the pies are looking very solid at the moment. Good news for us is that we still have some quality guys running around in the twos and i'm looking forward to seeing how the boys go after the extended break this week.;)

Interesting to read the responses to the loss. Much more measured than Pies supporters have been in the past.

Nothing extraordinary came out of the game.Realistically, your best players played close to their best - Judd and Murphy in particular were exceptionally good. You are just a bit behind us at the moment. Most assessments from Carlton supporters pre-season was for a 7-10 finish. That looks like being pretty accurate. Most assessments across the board were for Collingwood to be Top 4. Again, that looks like being pretty accurate. In short, a bottom half of the top 8 team (at best) got beaten by a top 4 team, after challenging them during the game. Plenty to be pleased about on both sides I would think.

To be honest, it's just nice to see a game plan for a change...

I don't think we were any worse this week than we were last week. In fact, Judd was better, as was Murphy and O'hAilpin, and a couple of others. Maybe a few of the lesser experienced players got shown-up under the sheer amount of intensity that Collingwood and the contest itself provided. But that's footy, and the more games played at that standard the quicker our players will reach that level. For 3 quarters we soaked up the pressure and provided a really exciting contest. A few junk-time goals perhaps spoiling the margin, but credit to Collingwood for finishing off the game the same way they began it. - It takes a lot of discipline to do that.
