Looks like we're running away with it... kicking the last 9 goals!

What the hell is going on out there?

Last season when we played the hawks they dominated us for the first half and were teaching us a serious lesson. After half time we came back and almost pinched the win.

Looks like the same thing happening today, although I hope we don't cough up with 5 mins to go.

Gotta say i'm a little concerned with the slow start, happy with the rocket that was put up them in the 3rd quarter though.

Essendon	1.5	1.8	8.12	10.14	74
Hawthorn	1.4	6.6	7.8	9.11	65

Alwyn Davey.....c'mon down! Another 3 goals :)

Great news.. Would be great to see a full match report tho...

Essendon goes into round one in solid form after pipping Hawthorn in their NAB Challenge match at Casey Fields in Melbourne's south-east. The Dons ran out 10-point winners, 10.15 (75) to 9.11 (65).

Several players face an anxious few days after being reported in the game, which Essendon kicked nine second-half goals to win after trailing by 28 points at halftime.

A scuffle in the second term saw Essendon's David Hille and Kepler Bradley go into the book.

And Hawthorn midfielder Luke Hodge was reported twice, once for striking Matthew Lloyd and again for charging Essendon's Damien Peverill in the centre square.

Best for the Bombers were James Hird and Angus Monfries while live-wire young forward Alwyn Davey kicked three goals.

Hawthorn dominated the second term booting five unanswered goals but couldn't continue their good form in the second half.

Mark Williams led the way with three goals while Sam Mitchell and Luke Hodge also had plenty of possession.

But it all turned around in the third quarter as the Bombers stormed to the front with a seven goal to one third term.

Have to admit i was a bit concerned with our first half but we played well and deserved the win.
Hird was BOG i think.

the boys are just trying to make the games interesting.

it's strange that we are now running games out well. in the past we have struggled in the last quarters and it has been a trademark of essendons to get off to a good start. i guess it just shows that we are much fitter than previous seasons.

now all the boys have to do is make sure they are switched on early in the match.

gees we could be in trouble if Hillie is rubbed out no Hilllie no Laycock that is a worry. What is everyone that went to the game opinion on the Hillie incident it is a very nervous wait

at most it will be a one week suspension, he may get away with a reprimand. it wasn't too serious. munston wasn't affected by it at all. his suspension from last season may have an impact on whether or not he receives a reprimand though.

i didn't have a very good view of the hille incident but i've spoken to a few people and they think that munston ran into hille and fell down. if that is the case he should get off.

apparantly kepler's report is for a head high bump. i hate to say it but the afl might do us a favour by suspending kepler. then we don't have to make up a position for him.

also sheeds said today that jj won't play in round 1

Gees that frustrate me about Kepler picking him up at number five and he struggles back then we struggled to get high picks and when we did we got Kepler
