Don't usually like writing this sort of stuff about the umps but today they were nothing short of disgraceful. I would say the avenue of most of Essendon's goals today came from umpiring decisions that were either not there and payed against us or not paid to us.
Really when the games in the balance, the umps need to let it flow. Terrible today:thumbsd:

I cant wait to see the stats for Free Kicks F50 ESS

I actually thoguht it was quite low quality, then again, I dont understand how holding the ball works anymore. Or whether incorect disposal still exists?

The umpires were woeful today but they weren't the reason we lost.

Ray Chamberlain is a dead set moron! He paid everything Essendon's way and when we were given the same treatment, he turned his back.

This isn't the first time either. He did it to us against Adelaide as well.

Can we please not use the excuse of the umpires today. Weak as pi$$ if you ask me.

There were some questionable decisions that went our way today:

The advantage paid to Murphy after the game had completely stopped was a shocker. And what was worse, how he butchered that shot on goal.

Even Fevs free at the city end when Fletcher "pushed" him was pretty soft.

Yeah, umpires go out there and deliberatley pay kicks against particular clubs.

How about last week vs Collingwood. Happy with the umpiring then?

Fair dinkum, people who blame umpires cannot see what is right in front of them. Hille smashed us today, and therefore we were smashed at the stoppages. Essendon also had more options inside their 50, whereas we had Fevola.

Exactly, the umpiring was pretty poor but no excuse for losing this match.

The final free count was 18 to us and 15 to carlton.

About half your 18 were inside forward 50, including 5 to 0 in the first Q.

The Dons used the ball better, smashed us in the centre, and yes, had the rub of the green with the umps, but we were good enough to work around it and get ourselves back into the game by running hard and hitting targets.

Had we done this all day the umpiring still would have been pathetic, but we would have won.

Umpires were bad.. But if affected both teams, not just the Blues, so it's no excuse.

You won't see me write this to often, but I argee with HBF.. :D.... It's a cop out to blame the umps... We played like crap at best... Didn't deserve to win..

Lets just focus on next week and how we go about reversing the result.

Re-read my entire post and don't cut and paste the bits you don't like.

I said and I quote, "they were woeful but they weren't the reason we lost."

Essendon smashed us and played pretty good football.

You made mention of two of the frees that were paid to Carlton... what about the over the shoulder on Army in the third quarter that was blatantly there but play on was called and Essendon kicked a goal. And the one in the first quarter with Carrazzo then the ball spilled and Essendon got the free inside 50. There was nothing in it!!!

Last weeks umpiring looked to be a tad off whilst I was at the game, however, when I went home and watched the replay, the umpires were red hot and most of them were there, as you would've seen if you watched the replay. The free paid to Fisher clearly was not there, but Swan's free infront of goal wasn't either. He dropped the bloody ball yet they called it holding the man.

You have a soft spot for the umpires because you used to be one.

You cannot tell me you were entirely happy with the umpiring today, particularly in the first half.

I cut and pasted your post becuase I was more refering to your comment about Chamberlain, and his games against Essendon and Adelaide. Completely inaccurate and pretty pi$$ poor if you ask me.

Sometimes you get the rub of the green, and sometimes you don't. It's like cricket, sometimes you get a bad decision, and sometimes you get a good one. Just ask Andrew Symonds.

Of course i have a soft spot for umpires because I can say I put my balls on the line, and got out there. Not an easy thing to do.

Yes the umpiring was frustrating at times, but guess what - it happens every week.

Essendon would have won even if there was even umpiring. i dont doubt that one bit.

But the umpiring was attrocius. Events that stick out in mind:

- Lloyd hitting Setanta in the throat as irish was marking, setanta drops mark, hurt on ground, no free
- 5 seconds later Murphy accidently touches someones (Lucas's?) hair, giving away free 20m from goal, lucky he butchered the shot
- David Hille (i think?) handballed the ball out of bounds under minimal pressure and no deliberate was paid (this was when we were just behind in the 4th)
- Textbook holding of the ball when Simmo ran down Slattery(?) who had around 3 seconds to dispose of ball, nothing
- Essendon paid an advantage, essendon player tackled, umpire then says no advantage and gives player a free shot

Only inaccurate in your eyes.

Chamberlain has been woeful in both matches and inconsistent with his decisions in both games :thumbsd:

That was Lloyd.

Added to that in our forward pocket, one of our players tackles theirs and nobody else is near them, the bummerws player handballs over the line a few metres away and that ____ Chamberlain calls nothing for a totally blatant deliberate.

Setanta got around the neck, nothing, right after that Carrazzo brushes Monfries head and gets a set shot on goal (____with Chamberlain again).

I think it was Jamison made a good side on tackle but the bummers player dived forward and the umpire got sucked in and paid them a free in front of goal for another bullshit soft goal.

This is becoming a theme from Carlton Essendon games. I remember our game earlier in the season. Many fans blamed the umpires for that loss too.

Next you'll blame them for the '93 GF!

I blame condoms for not being built strong enough for you being here.

How about blaming your team for playing poorly, rather than the umpires for losing it for you. Of course it's a conspiracy against the Blues :D:D:D

I remember plenty of decisions against the Bombers too, take Murphy's ridiculous "advantage" in the 3rd, or Fev's clear push on Fletcher. But oh wait, they don't count because they were for Carlton!

Any excuse to avoid the facts your team played poorly and deserved to lose.

I don't think anybody is blaming the umpires for our loss. Essendon played good footy all day and deserved the win.

The umpires are frustrating because of their lack of consistency.

AFL conspiracy.

They like to support the aboriginal cause a bit too much.

And Fev didn't push him in the back you muppet, it was in the side, that's why the commentators said he should do it more.
