Pretty much spot on.

They won't be challenging anytime soon with so many vfl quality senior players and small forward high draft picks.

Scott is just wasting everyone's time and Preuss has already overtaken Goldstein.

Yes it makes perfect football sense for north to move goldy on but it's not going to happen- because you can't trade a player against their will.

And goldy wouldn't agree to get traded unless he gets similar money to what he's on now (and guaranteed to get for the next 2 years).

Which team wants to spend a first or 2nd rounder and 1.8million on goldstein in 2018 and 2019?

It's $800K p.a., but I agree with everthing else you posted.

You must think Brad Scott doesn't have an honest bone in his body.

Can't disagree, but in reality Preuss went passed Goldstein months ago and even our cowardly little coach will eventually advise Goldy of his VFL prospects for next year.

Goldy would be stupid to stay on and play VFL in 18 for an extra few hundred thousand.

Don't know quite what you mean by the scott honesty thing, but I'm glad you're on the same wavelength, unlike others who are missing half the story entirely.

You're dead right that the roos could threaten goldy with banishment to the vfl if he doesn't agree to be traded.

But that would be a terrible move for a lot of reasons.
1. Treating a senior, former AA player that badly/ruthlessly would piss a lot of other north players off. Cause trouble re-signing kids in the future?

2. Goldy would just say, bring it on. I KNOW I'm the best ruck at the club- I'll back myself in to play well enough that you'll HAVE to pick me in the 1's.

3. It isn't "just" a 'few hundred thousand' we're talking about. It's a 'few hundred thousand' each year for 2 years!

Depending on what another club would pay him, we're talking about goldy having to walk away from OVER half a million dollars if he were to agree to be traded.

What would clubs interested in him would offer to pay goldy today you think?
Even with the 20% cap increase i would say 500-600k absolutely at most, being super generous.

That leaves a circa 600k hole in goldys pocket.

He's not going anywhere unless north want to pay goldy 300k a year for 2 years to NOT play for them.

It's not necessarily a clip to Goldstein saying he's North's second best ruckman.

Pruess and Goldstein could both easily be number 1 rucks at multiple clubs.

I don't think Goldy has a choice with his form of 2017. If we had anything other than the coward decision maker of Scott at the club, Preuss would already have replaced him and perhaps Daw would've got enough/better delivery to save his career.

Goldstein would be aware of how good Preuss is and that the VFL is not far away.
It's just one of those things. Preuss is a rare beast and would already be prominent if not for the Goldstein/Scott slow suicide. At the end of the day Goldstein isn't wiping the arses of the slow and simple midfielders. Preuss will and everyone knows it.

It's in Goldstein's interest to move on and get another 5 years somewhere else than it is staying and getting 1 or 2 at an imploding house of excuses and stupidity.

It's fascinating to hear everyone at north talk about how pruess already IS this incredible top line AFL player after 4 games.
Not may become.... IS!

Sure he's shown plenty of potential.

But the sample size is waaaay too small to be so categorically adamant that he will make it.
Actually, it's not even "will make it"... It's "already has made it"

Facinating.

North may well be stuck with Goldy .
At his age and in decline , who will trade for him on top of accommodating his very generous salary .
Expensive reserves player so may still play seniors next year again holding back Pruess .
Hope the Blues are into Pruess ...

Agree.

It's a trait amongst a certain section of our group that cannot be denied.

Everything that is untried or unproven at senior level, that has shown glimpses of ability, is automatically rocketed to future superstar status and if they are not automatically promoted, there is a conspiracy afoot in the football department.

Tried and true club champions, that are on the wane but still demanding their spot in the best 22, are automatically relegated to shit list clogger status and are holding out some kid who is clearly not a better player (yet).

They crave change for it's own sake because they are not educated enough football judges to watch a kid in the seconds and know that he has what it takes. They need their curiosities satisfied at senior level. Of course, on plenty of occasions a kid has the talent but is simply not ready at AFL level. They usually get tossed in to the dust bin by these types, if the kid fails.

Preuss is contracted until the end of 2018. He is earmarked as a 10 year ruckman. He will cost Carlton their 1st round draft pick (which is overs).

If Pruess is out of contact next year and decided to accept an offer from Carlton and nominate them , why would Carlton pay overs .

Clearly, my post related to making a play for Braydon this year. I don't know how you could assume otherwise.

As for 2019. I expect Braydon to get an extension before the season ends.

Na mate ,
We can enter discussions with his manager anytime and be happy to bring him on board at a fair price at the end of 2018 when he is uncontracted .

Righto.

Good luck.

As usual you're talking bullshit. Short man nonsense.

You think Goldstein is demanding his spot?

Pure crap. Yes we all know you are stuck in a cycle of justifying your opinions from 2014 but times change. You might have fonder memories from another era in life and football but get over yourself. You're a cancer. Repeating failure is your go. The biggest sign of ignorance. Preuss has showed more in his 6 or 7 games than Goldstein has for 12 months.

Swallow will not be part of a premiership. Get used to it flog.

Good news .
I'm sure Pruess will be pleased to hear it :D
Kreuzer is having a very good year, surely you can pick up a cheap understudy via the draft or rookie draft.

They wouldn't even pay Zac Touhy properly, so how are they going to drag Preuss to Princes Park?

It's a pipe dream. Let him have it.

That he is .
There is some debate over his contractual status going forward .
If he is an unrestricted FA and were to receive a handsome offer , Silvagni may be happy to pocket the FA compo and make a play for an out of contract Pruess at the end of 2018 ...

You should get down and watch him play.

It's not an easy task to make Goldstein look like a second rate ruckman.

He's mature age and going places. One hard unit that's only going to improve. Great find.

You could but you don't know much about him and his background. North took him over and developed him from a rugby background and gave him an opportunity. He is very raw and he has been on record to be very thankful for what our club has done for him.

He would also know if he plays well he is next in line to be our permanent ruckman. Why would he go to Carlton and be second fiddle to Kreuzer? That guy is near All Australian this year and if remains injury free he should only get better.

Daw is a highlights reel that can't run out a game as a full time ruckman after 8 pre-seasons, and endurance is the thing that is currently holding Preuss back. Preuss going down and leaving us solely with Majak is a selection nightmare. Goldstein gives us one considerable advantage regardless of whether he playes well or not; his endurance allows us to play an extra midfielder. We would have to get a very good offer to part with Goldstein and we would also need to have a ready to go competent ruckman ready to get on the books to replace him. I just can't see it heppening.

Daw has only ever had one full pre season.
