Did some very nice things on debut for Glenelg last week and playing in the seniors against Sturt today.

What are the SANFL aficionados thoughts on him?

11 Touches, 1 Goal

Good effort from the kid in a tough final :thumbsu:

Not big enough.

They said the same thing about Danyle Pearce. He was a classy, fast player at Sturt. Adelaide let him slip through to the Rookie Draft and Port Adelaide swooped.

Holmes has footy smarts, skill and is a smooth mover. I thought he performed well with limited game time, so 11 touches was a great result in a tough elimination final.

He looked classy on debut last week. I'm looking forward to kicking back tomorrow night and watching the replay of yesterday's fantastic win on ABC2. I'll be looking out for Tom.

and so did I lol
Which school?
Me, M.G.H.S he was in my homegroup until he left.
Man how I don't miss him kicking our asses in kick-kick at lunch and recess.

Yeah MGHS, I was a couple of years older, but played a fair bit of footy against him.

;)
I'm a PAC boy.

He was 2 years below me though, but played in our firsts team.

I don't think he did year 12 at PAC, not sure where he went.

name? was in ur class if you were two years above him

My fav kid to watch. Oozes class, wish hje was about 5cm bigger he'd be a top 10 draft pick. Still worth it imo, worth a rookie at least.

Could he be an Angus Monfries or Matthew Stokes type?

Will he be drafted, and around about what pick?

With a few older hacks in our squad, and Walker being a decent late pick, I'd be happy to turn over at least 7 players including trades and delistings and end up with 5 picks in the ND. At this stage, the only rookie I'd be upgrading is Gallman. If it's a choice between retaining a Doughty or taking a chance on a bloke like Holmes give me the MGHS lad any day;)

He could be but he plays just like Crawford with some Gibbs in him. Just a very small version. Really wish he was taller, because he'd get pushed off the footy too easily. Was a taller kid in younger grades but hasn't really grown since.

Surely his height isn't the be-all end-all, Daniel Kerr is only marginally taller then an ewok yet he's still one of the best midfielders in the AFL, if Holmes is going to be overlooked then there must be more to it then his height alone.

At 176 cm Holmes is only 2 cm shorter than Kerr and Bode and 4 cm taller than Rodan.

Isn't Kerr alot closer to 170cms he looks like a dwarf on the field he may be listed as 178cm but I'm not sure if thats right.

one thing about him i have seen him play a fair bit is his lack of pace
I have a feeling he could be a bit of a 'Priddis'.

A couple of years where clubs say 'he is a bit too slow/small for AFL', but then realise he's just a cut above the level below and someone will give him a chance.

He is an extremely hard worker, like Priddis, and not dissimilar in the way he plays.

Who is this Johnny Holmes character?
I'm sure I've heard his name before, just can't match his face up to the player :thumbsd:

earlsta you aren't serious are you. (I'll take the bait)

the late great Johnny Holmes, a terrific player in the 70s, accredited with over 2500 pr0n flicks, hung like a horse, a big horse. Still if you recognised his face you ain't watching these films properly, or so I've been told :p

priddis was never considered too small. he is 184cm tall. priddis pace was the issue, why we over looked. holmes to small to slow
