Is it just me or is he annoying. Especially yesterday when he was saying we fear India's batting lineup. What a load of crap. I'm sure our bowlers would look forward to it.

He's nearly as annoying as Aamir Sohail. Healy isn't much better either.

I agree that Healy is annoying, but Tony Greig is a legend! He is the best man to have commentating during the last 10 overs of an innings, because he is always excited.

I find myself tending to cringe alot when I'm listening to Tony Greig, espeically when the Asian nations are playing.

I must be the only one in here who likes Tony Greig. Oh well I suppose it doesn't bother me.

Yeah he's not bad to listen to but as St. Kris said, when the asian nations are playing, he keeps going on and on about them and it just gets annoying. There are many other good commentators, I like all the commentators from England.

Aamir Sohail is the worst commentator around though.

I think the nature of cricket commentary is that, because of the need to fill so much time, you just keep talking and talking and talking.

Because of this, sometimes you will say silly things. You might even say stupid things just to keep YOURSELF interested!

I wouldn't put too much stock in Tony's opinions...

i can't believe anyone even remotely likes the tool. i can't stomach him. he's so anti-australia and pro seth efrica and engerland its sickening.

i'd rather bill lawry in the last 10 overs.

my favourites are tony greig, richie benaud and geoff boycott.

i cant stand ian healy, ian smith or mark taylor

Poor Tony Greig copped a wrap over the knuckles for comments he made while commentating in Zimbawe last week. After the lunch break he crapped on and on about his wonderful meal he had at lunch. This didn't go down well in a country with millions of starving people.

It's not just you Kenny.

I have no problem with his bias - i'd even say it's refreshing with the ammount of pro-australian bias you get everywhere else in the media. The annoying thing about him is he MAKES SO MANY #@%ING MISTAKES!!!

Next time he commentates make a count of how often he get's the name of the player on strike wrong, tells the wrong score, pre-empts something that never happens etc. He drives me nuts!!

Re Ian Healy - I've been quite a fan up until this world cup. He has fallen into the trap of being a little too pro-Australian recently. Understandable when you consider he is essentially watching some of his close friends play for the biggest prize in cricket but he needs to get a bit more impartiality to becme a first rate commentator imo. I do like the fact that he has actually played the game recently which is a good thing.

Of the other commentators I like Beefy and David Gower.

Tony Grieg is a ****er. Enough said.

When it comes to difficult umpiring decisions Tony Greig is the master at making the call.

"I think the replay will show his foot was touching the rope"

"I'm sure that the ball hit the bat before the pad"

"I'm certain the batsman was home"

"That catch was cleanly taken".

Yep, you can hang your hat on Tony Greig's judgement....because he will almost ALWAYS be wrong!

I reckon Tony ought to take his immediate gut instinct and go for the complete opposite. His strike rate would improve dramatically.

I like it when a player goes for a big hit towards the boundary and Tony Greig goes "great shot, wonderful shot".The camera pans across and theres a fielder standing on the boundary ready to take the catch. :o .Then Tony goes silent.
Makes you wonder if he's at the game or at home commentating off the telly.

dont think so JUBJUB. the way the camerawork has been this tournament, they will have zoomed in so tight on the ball that you wouldnt have a clue if a fielder is underneath it or if it is 30 metres over the boundary rope.

There is no doubt in my mind this strategy would work.

And multiplies the emphasis of his clanger by about 100! He has taken to correcting himself occasionally in recent times. It's still annoying but not as much as that dead air you speak of. I guess the silence gives him time to switch off the mike and says "Gee I hope none of the vast tv audience picked up on that clanger - Lucky I'm tight with big Kerry or I'd probably get sacked for incompetency"

True :D ,but I mean't whens he's commentating in Aus.

Come on guys - Tony's a legend of the game, and the commentary box, whether you like it or not.

You may not like everything he says (I don't) but he adds colour to the telecast. Something lacking now that Mark Taylor has taken it upon himself to bore the sh|t out of the viewers every time he opens his ****ing mouth.

Tony Grieg + Bill Lawry + Commentary Box = pure comedy.

Our telecasts will be pretty damn boring when those two disappear and we're left with Mark Taylor's sleep inducing crap, and Ian Healy trying to rip off Billy Birmingham......

I don't think I've heard Mark Taylor raise his voice once in the commentary box. Cricket is hardly the most exciting game in the world (yet we love it for that very reason), but Mark Taylor takes boredom to a new low.

Mark Taylor + Cricket Match + Commentary Box = zzzzzzzzzz

That I definetly agree with.

That's why they need to bring in the legendary KERRY O'KEITH!!! :D
