Hey guys, we did get some positives from the Eagles game despite the loss and even though the 4 points would have been great we did still come out of the game with something.

So, do you think the Swannies still have a shot at top 4? We'll have to win all our next 7 games and then it's very likely we will.

Although i think it's gonna be really tough, i think we can still do it. Atleast i hope we can still do it.

v. Richmond @ SCG
v. Port @ AAMI
v. Essendon @ SCG
v. Melbourne @ MCG
v. Geelong @ Skilled
v. Brisbane @ Telstra Stadium
v. Carlton @ SCG

The hardest will definately be Melbourne and Geelong at Skilled but if from watching the weekends match i feel like they are getting some of their spirit back and if so, i think we'll stick it to them all.

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself but i do want to be positive.

Is top 4 too far out of our reach?

Where do you guys think we'll finish?

I'll say 4th or 5th.

A outsiders opinion. :)

v. Richmond @ SCG - Should win
v. Port @ AAMI - 50/50
v. Essendon @ SCG - Win
v. Melbourne @ MCG - Loss
v. Geelong @ Skilled - 50/50
v. Brisbane @ Telstra Stadium - Win
v. Carlton @ SCG - Win

I'll give you one of the 50/50s which is 5 wins, which puts you on 13 wins, but with percentages so close in the teams above percentage boosters will be needed. Could sneak 5th, but I'd say 6th.

Yeah, that could happen. Port won't be easy either, not at AAMI. Hopefully Richmond, Essendon and Carlton can be percentage boosters.

Swans would not want to play that close down / flood game bcos there's no % gain in that!

I think we have chances:thumbsu: especially with essendon and carlton. I think if we at least stay in the 8 we can at least get to september but its mistakes like not letting Nick Davis play that can cost us.:thumbsd:

Well our game style has built a percentage that is absolutely fine so far. Currently it's comparable to any team in the League - bar Adel who we have no chance of catching in the H/A rounds anyway. Better than St Kilda's in fact :p

I think top four is possible. But the variables are starting to tell against us.

I hope he does come back soon.

I'd predict Mal will get a recall first. Then Nick (knock wood) in Rnd 17.

Oh yeah, did he play a full game on the weekend?

I wonder if Paul Bevan is going to be playing on the weekend after that heavy knock? I'd hope so.

Hopefully for this week, Phillips out, Malceski in.

You don't usually see a young player picked then dropped by Roos. But as a rookie list player coming in, I'm sure Phillips would know that his selection was only ever going to be about giving him a taste of senior footy.

Don't know about the full game for Mal or not. But sydneyswans.com listed him as one of the players that impressed. And we know that Roos rated Mal's work highly in our turnaround after round 4.

well if we play like our first half on saturday night and take that and improve on it i dont see why we cant really give the top four a shake. Magpies are in a bit of a rut at the moment and the Eagles arent that convincing either, and who knows with Melbourne - we have been giant killers in recent seasons so I dont see why we cant be competitive. There were more positives than negatives on the weekend so I definately havent given up on top 4.

the swans were good against us in the first half, but they died in the second.

is this a concern?

they looked tired halfway through the 3rd.

maybe they need to work on their fitness so they can last longer and boost % to get into the 4

whats wrong with their fitness??

Eagles were bad in the first half, what's wrong with there fitness? Did they all need a lay down at half time?

These men are professional athletes, i highly doubt there is anything wrong with there fitness. Eagles played better in the second half and Scotty McLaren did his bit too, that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the Swans fitness levels.

clearly playing poorly in the 1st half doesnt have anything to do with fitness. we just had a really pathetic half.

im sorry to rain on your party, but some teams are fitter than others, look at adelaide! they run all day, and run teams into the ground, dont you wonder why they smashed you for 4 quarters?

also WCE are known as quite a fit side, and we ran all over you guys in the second half. sorry but its the truth.

My first comment about Eagles was a joke, clearly.

Sydney played all 4 finals last year, some of the most 4 demanding finals anyone will play and they still kept fighting till the very last minute. That shows a very 'fit' side.

Also, why Adelaide 'smashed' us for 4 quarter? Because they are a better side and we aren't in very good form at the moment.

there, their, whatever. We're on a forum, not in english writing an essay for the HSC.

lol, i know you played those finals last year but im talking about this year, things can change. for example nick davis was fit last year but has got a bit around the edges nowdays. in the last quarter especially you guys were tired, and it let us in the game.

I know something else that let you in the game, or should i say someone?

Kaitsey, to be perfectly honest i don't care. You go to the Eagles board and discuess away about the Eagles and how great they are and how they are going to win the GF this year all you like, this thread is about Sydney and the rest of their season and where we think they are going to finish. By all means, go ahead and comment on that, i like knowing where an outsider thinks Sydney will go, but really, us Swans fans want to move beyond Saturday night and looking for the positives and expanding on them.

I believe making the top 4 gives us a definate advantage in the finals, but i think we are the sort of team that can win anywhere even if we finish 5th or 6th. We've pushed the Crows at Footy Park, we've pushed the Eagles twice at Subi.

The character within the group as shown since Roos has taken over which is a strong sense of belief that they can go anywhere and win, like the QF vs Port in 2003.

We'll still do damage come finals time, don't worry about that.

You said we were tired and our lack of fitness let you into the game, i said someone also helped getting you in the game. Then i was pretty much telling you that we're trying to move on and look at the positives from the game.. so yeah.
