7. Tuck 229 (22)
8. Simmonds 216 (22)
9. Moore 212 (22)
10. Johnson 206 (18)

Also 200+, Tambling & Foley. I remember one year Plough got 500 kicks and not one Brownlow vote.

Handballs:
1. Tuck 318
2. Deledio 283
3. Foley 267
4. Johnson 225
5. McMahon 191
6. Tambling 182 (22)
7. Bowden 153
8. Simmonds 152
9. Newman 146

Richo: 7.

Nah, only joking, he had 102.

Disposals:
1. Tuck 547
2. Deledio 538
3. McMahon 504
4. Foley 467
5. Newman 449

Contested Possessions:
1. Tuck 214
2. Foley 183
3. Deledio 157
4. Richo 122
5. Tambling 117
6. Simmonds 112
7. Newman 107
8. Brown 103
9. Moore 102
10. King 97

Cotchin was in 12th spot, with 2 more than his skipper from 3 fewer games. Schulz & Edwards were ahead of McGuane, Riewoldt, Jackson & Thursfield.

Disposal Efficiency %:
1. Thursfield 88.95
2. Polak 85.43
3. Moore 83.82
4. McGuane 82.70
5. King 82.48
6. Bowden 82.28
7. Polo 81.91
8. Hyde 80.88
9. Johnson 80.74
10. Newman 80.18

I have decided this stat is useless as defenders have a heap of unpressured kicks to a mate on his own and thus have inflated %s. Apparently Cotchin's % was better than only Riewoldt's and Cartledge's. Pfft.

Hmm. Jordy was in the disposals, but not the contested disposals, the marks but not contested, and the rebound/inside 50's - which is sort of his job (but not in the top for disposal efficiency - also supposed to be his job).

He was also in the clangers and the frees against, but not the frees for.

I was surprised to see him in the one percenters. Presumably the stats guy thought this was for when "a player gives one percent of effort".

No, Jordy's not all bad, but these stats do nothing to make him look any better.

Richie is a lot better, but then I think we all know that already.

A "contested" possession is the most misleading stat going around.

Did you know that a free kick FOR is classed as a "contested possession" won?

Joke stat, although you're right that Jordy, who's job is to receive, did receive the ball a fair bit.

Matt White didn't feature in contested marks and Richo didn't feature in tackles either.

Why?

They benefit the team in other ways ;)

I would be interested to see Foleys numbers compared to last year. I don't think he had as much of it as last year.

interesting read... always take stats with a grain of salt but the 2 things that screams out as us needing are

1). Another player that can take contested marks, especially in the forward 50. Richo wont be around forever. Not sure if this will ever really be Jack's go. Questions over Hughes. Gourdis still untested. We should look to recruit for this. Young KPF.

2). A midfielder whose preferred method of disposal is by foot, preferably one who can win contested ball as well as that is always a plus. Obviously one of our youngster's might step up, but you can never have too many mid's. We should look to recruit, maybe even look at Prismall in a trade.

The other thing we need desperately is a dominant ruckman.

These should be our 3 draft/trade priorities.

I think Foley struggled a bit with the No. 1 tagger this year, but on the plus side it freed up Lids to have a pretty good year. Tables will probably turn next year.

I think Foley's body was just wearing down as the season went on, he played some terrific games early.

Remember Coughlan at Foley's age?

Yeah, fair point. I do remember Coglan at Foley's age, I think he had a blinder and then got OP, follwed by the dreaded double ACL!! God only knows how many more goals Richo would have if that man had stayed fit!
