Torrent Speed

Sorry if this question has been done before.

My torrents consistently downloaded at 700kb/s or at worst around 400kb/s but for the last couple of days and nights they have been really struggling at like 50kb/s at best. I'm not doing anything different that I know of.

I'm using a Mac, Utorrent and torrents mainly from pirate bay.

Any reasons this might be happening? Remember I'm not doing anything differently so I'm wondering why the drop off.

I'm no tech head, but what are you downloading? If you're downloading torrents with barely any seeds then it will take longer than torrents with a lot of seeds.

Have you got a cap on your internet? If you've exceeded your downloads for the month then it will start downloading slowly.

Alternatively as getthefooty said it could be because you're torrenting torrents with hardly any seeds.

what are you trying to download? and what is the ratio of seeders to leechers. it will show you in utorrent

I'm no tech head, but what are you downloading? If you're downloading torrents with barely any seeds then it will take longer than torrents with a lot of seeds.

Nah I'm downloading stuff with lots of seeds (stuff like walking dead sons of anarchy) with great seed to leech ratio.

Havent gone over not even close I'm it's only 4 days into the new cycle.

Only thing I'm doing a bit different is that I have a fair few movies queued as I got bored one day and went through a greatest 100 ever movies list and I got about 20 but they are not downloading as I can only download 5 files at a time at this stage. They are inactive ATM.

have you changed the time youve downloaded something. during peak hours when people use the net more often everyones internet can suffer due to a lot of usage in your immediate area. i doubt it but that could be an issue

also try stopping everything else and then just have one thing actually downloading at one time. this will increase the speed of the thing that you are downloading

Thanks this actually helped. Weird because Ive done multiple downloads before with no problems but if I ever bump into problems again I'll do this til it fixes.

I had this once and it did not stop until i rang my ISP to abuse them.

Get a VPN.

They know what you are up to and they are throttling your connection speed.

change your port, make sure it's forwarded.

i know utorrent is popular, but try a different client.
