The brown deal if goes forward will be a black day in our history.
At the age of 19 he won the club man award and has allot of potential, skill and heart.
We trade him for the 15th pick in the weakest draft thus far.
Schwab decsions understandably had to be made but were loosing our heart.
Your idea of loyalty is worring, god help us next time we have to sign Pavlich.
:(

Is there a need to trade Brown at the moment?.

If we get the 15th draft pick in a poor year, that may be a backward move.

Geez Brownies had an ordinary year due to lack of game time, but when he's been on the ground, he's been useful. He has good skills and has been wrongly labeled as slow, as he put alot of effort into the pre season working on his weakness's.

I'm wrapped that we got Headland, but to let Brown go is a big mistake.
He's a great club man, popular amongst the playing group and is the only docker who actually stands up for our players when they are getting bagged.

Not good freo, not good!

I am sad to see Brown go, and we could have got more than #15 for him.

It will definately give him more opportunity though, and a good chance to have a successful AFL career. Best of luck to him.

Not Schwab this time.

Connolly, Moylan and Icke.

He usually knows what's going on. Maybe The West have it wrong?

Doubt it.

If we did keep Brown, it had all to do with loyalty and not much to do with what happens on the field. It's sad to see him go because he was a good clubman, but that's football.

I presume it had to do with salary cap pressure?

Man, I get the feeling that Metro's salary might be discussed in length by the Fremantle faithful tomorrow.

He might also be involved in an unfortunate "accident" with a particular persons Ute.

Phil Matera's?

Apparently he drives an old bombed up ute to training and does burnouts in the car parks.

It hurts to say but Browny is the weakest link when it comes to our key position players.

Simmonds, Pav, Mcpharlin, Croad, Polak and even J Lo are all extremely good athletes.

Browny ...is not.

As far as heart and passion goes he's close to the top. But he is a tad slow.

I'm just glad Pagan is gone so he can't turn another Freo player into a superstar.

Yeah I agree. He is a solid mark and a booming kick but his athletisicm will hold him back. He will be a bit like Mick Martyn.

Just a quick congrats to the Freo folk....Im not sure it is official yet but it looks like you have secured the services of Headland. Well done.

Oh and nice trade with Brown. He was always pretty useless and #15 was about as good as you could expect.

I think Leigh Brown is a champ.

He has passion for the club, and it a very good clubman.

But the fact remians, that out of our key position talls, he is sadly the last inline - and that simply and sadly makes him expendable.

Now, in a climate where woewoedin, a past brownlow meddalist can get peddled for a 16th pick, then Brownfo the 15th is probably, and sadly about on the money.

I dont want it to happen, but doesnt suprise me an iota if it does.

And Carneagles - any side that has notbale fisrt round picks in the last 10 years such as Shane Sikora, Brendan Fewster (#3!), Luke Trew and Jaxon Crabb really should keep quiet on discussins involving first round picks ;)

Yeah, there's been some dud picks alright. But it's actually quite appropriate that you mention the likes of Sikora and Fewster, because there's a real "mid-90's" (for both clubs) feel to this deal.

Sure, you can understand why he was traded, but the ramifications of losing Brown go a bit wider than for your run-of-the-mill player. As a fellow supporter of yours said on another site - Des had better be worth it.

PS: Spewing we didn't get Pickett.

I understand the ramifications, but at the end of the day - what do you do?

Trade a better player - it just doesnt make sense.

As I say, I rate Leigh the person and Leigh the player, and im not overly happy, but at the end of th day - should be win win for all involved, I hope.

And Pickett - yeah, wouldnt have minded him running off half back and smashing a few ... you get that.

In the cold heart light of day it's sad that Brownie is moving along, but was he in the best 22?.

He's given his heart and soul to the Freo club and I wish him all the best in the future. I can assure you that both McPhee and Brownie will be given a warm reception at Subi when they come over to play.

The phrase, "you gotta be cruel to be kind", springs to mind.

Whatever disappointment you're feeling at the moment will soon be forgotten when you first see Headland pump the ball sixty metres to J'Lo's chest.

Headland is such a perfect ingredient to your midfield, it almost makes me bloody vomit. :)

Yes thats the plan
Except its more likely to be Wathouse/Longmuir/Farmer/Medhurst kind of thing :)

Agh funky monkey just which of the Ex freo boys did Pagan turn into a SUPERSTAR??!!!!
I have racked my brain and have yet to come up with the answer to this conundrum.
With picks 15 and 60 maybe we can pick up a couple of good local kids who are not going to cost us an arm and a leg and will give it all for the club.
Sorry to see Brown and McPhee go but both I believe had ordinary seasons last year.I wish them all the best for the future.
When Brownie learns to be where the ball is he will be a good player. At the moment he is the sort of player who is where the ball used to be.
