Mass lols.

Butler is in the top 25 of the reigning premiers, is a premiership player and struggles to cement a place in arguably the best forward line in the league.

The Blues forward line is atrocious. Butler would be an upgrade on any Blues forward besides Curnow and McKay... 😂

I’ve actually come around to think well done to the Dons.
They have a contracted star and didn’t get offered what they wanted to so are backing themselves in to re-sign him.
If it was us and Jack in that position I’d want our club to do the same thing.
Trades are too one sided in the players favour atm. Hopefully this is the start of the change

Carlton fans trying to convince themselves that they'll get Jack Martin in the PSD as the Suns won't redraft him....

- Why wouldn't the Suns?
- Surely they would've taken something in a trade rather than nothing if they were bluffing?
- They 100% have the cap space
- Martin can only put a price on his head in the PSD, so he can't avoid GCS by going to the national Draft as he won't last to pick 9
- He has mates there and I'm sure he'll come around to it
- LoL SOS

Why would they use 9 now ? They didn’t want to & get 15 as a bonus back with him as it is !

I agree, it was merely an example of how they're no certainties to grab him via other means given how they're all assuming they'll get him via the Draft.

They cannot wait for the PSD as GCS will take him so their only other option is the ND but even that won't work.

AFL trade grades: Herald Sun footy experts rate every club’s exchange period
A flurry of activity on the last two days punctuated a drawn out trade period, with a number of clubs netting prized recruits and draft bonanzas. Our experts rate the winners and losers from a bumper exchange period.

RICHMOND
IN: Pick 56

OUT: Dan Butler (St Kilda)

DRAFT PICKS: 19, 38, 39, 41, 56, 75, 77, 95

GRADING: C

Richmond was content to take its picks, miffed not to get an end-of-first-round compensation pick for Brandon Ellis but aware it will enter next year with Sydney Stack, Marlion Pickett and Alex Rance as virtual recruits given Stack and Pickett will be in their first full pre-season and Rance is back from his Round 1 ACL.

On pure trade action, the Tigers did three fifths of stuff all, but this period was all about basking in the premiership glow and protecting their list, with Kamdyn McIntosh and Connor Menadue not getting to rival clubs and now having to prove they are good enough to break into the best 22.

What a draft hand 5 picks < 56

They were likely offered 2x r1 if he departs as a FA it will be 1 pick in r1 , they e ****ed up

Imagine leaving things to the last minute and then ******* it all up, 4 players are now stuck with their clubs after telling them to GAGF and to trade them out.

Papley wanted out of Sydney to Carlton. RESULT: staying at swans because SOS and Dilldoro
Martin wanted out of Gold Coast to Carlton. RESULT: staying at GC because SOS
Daniher wanted out of Essendon to Sydney. RESULT: staying at Essendon because Dilldoro
Fantasia wanted out of Essendon to Port Adelaide. RESULT: staying at Essendon because Dilldoro probablt told him they wont trade him so Fantasia relented and stayed.
Sssssssshhhhh bloody sssshhhhhhh they’re doing an outstanding job, easily 2 of the best going around , I. Don’t want them sniffing around clarkey and Hartley

Thought Cameron sounded reasonable talking about the Martin trade - second rounder and third rounder in a massively compromised draft isn't a great haul. Also even if he does end up at Carlton through the draft, given the huge number of high picks gc have, I don't think they'll rue losing those picks

I agree that Freo's 22 is the pick to now upgrade for.
They have 7 & 10, then expect a bid will come for Liam Henry ~ 15, they will match using 22, then have 58, 69
They should be open to trading 22 for extra points.

Adelaide & Brisbane will be our competition as they have a similar batch of trad-able picks to us:
Adelaide 4, 23, then 28, 37, 45, 49
Brisbane 16, 21 then 34, 48, 52, 55
Tigers 19 then 38, 39, 41, 56

If we plan on only using 3 picks, then we could offer 38 + 41 + 56 = 1071 pts for 22 = 845 points. Win-win.
But Adelaide or Brisbane could offer similar or better and still have 4 decent picks.

If we plan on using 4 picks, then forget it. Maybe trade 56 for a future 3rd to Collingwood, West Coast, Eagles or Saints for who it would be in their top 3 picks.
Again Brisbane & Adelaide may have the same idea - although Adelaide probably need to use all 6 of their picks after the players they've lost

Ask yourself though...what kind of output are they gonna get from a bloke that doesnt want to be there.? Two answers for mine...jack amd s#%&

Surely y'all don't think Essendon should have accepted Sydneys shitty offer, Essendon are notoriously hard to trade with but why trade Daniher and leave yourself with bad key forwards.
