Trade Our Pick!!!

From watching the championships last sunday i was beggining to thing that we should offload our 1st pick in the draft for a top class player at another club who is under the age of 23...carlton will have the picks either between 5 and 9, and to be honest there is not alot out their...possibilities for swaps are:

whitnal and our fist round for GODDARD or WELLS (a good chance to get one of em back)

- whitnal's best footy is behind him at carlton, and needs to resurect his career, also the draft is not that strong therefore we can get a good deal for either of the 2 champions in the making GODDARD and WELLS (Kangas need key position...badly).

If judd wanted to cone back to melbourne our first draft pick...iether 5 to 10 and lance whitnal would shorely have you in top contention for judd. They get lance whitnall a badly needed top class footballer (even though he aint showing it) and a top 10 pick. They will be able to work with lance and get his body right...just look at all their players how cut up with muscle and strong they are...seems like a good deal to me.

Dear oh dear !!!!

1. Never ever trade a first round draft pick, it is sheer stupidity.
2. It has been reported in todays press that Chris Judd will be staying at West Coast till the end of 2005.
3. Trade Whitnall AND our first round pick for one of those guys ????? Madness !!!

We offer up Whitnall, that's ok, but we want the top pick, we don't offer up another pick to get a higher pick + lose Whitnall.

What on earth would you do that for???

If we trade Whitnall, it's for pick 2, no more, no less, if they don't like it, we keep him and let them offer things to us if they want him.

Exactly! It's not like we HAVE to get rid of Whitnall. If someone comes along with a sensational offer for him, we'll look at it, but that's all.

Goddard and Wells - let it go - even if Saints or Roos did trade them, they'd ask for way too much to be worth it. We missed on them in the'02 draft, it's history so move on.

Heres a novel idea,
hwabout we DRAFT our ouwn Gun under 23 year old players instead of poaching others.

Only problem with that is the fact that we are 2 years behind in terms of draft picks and for a 1st round pick we get someone who hopefully was a 1st pick and has developed over the last year or two and has got the 2nd year blues out of his system - eg. Goddard.

I actually agree that we shouldn't trade our 1st pick but can see merit in both arguments.
