Trade week- Tommorrow

i actually can see Rob Shirley ending up at Carlton, rumour had it that Pagan was impressed by him and was super keen to get him last year, but we decided to hang onto him but we really didnt give many opportunities this year so perhaps Pagan may have another crack, i have no idea what we would get for him though

He might get a few more oppurtunities next year, with stinger leaving. He'll be our only tagger, unless craigy goes down the path of playing Mattner as a tagger like Ayresy did, which i think was a disaster.
As for what we could get for him... i dunno if the blues have anything we'd want, other than say David Teague who theyd never give up. Id love a guy like that at the crows tho.
Most likely it would be for draft picks if a deal was done.

Well I wouldn't be too confident with the Thompson deal just yet. Carr is set to announce that he is leaving for Fremantle and we take the backseat in the Thompson deal because Melbourne would rather deal with Port :(

Why is that Stiff? I heard Thompsons preferance was with the crows because he would have a bigger role. Obviously that doesnt mean much to Melboure who would be keen to get the best deal, but yeh just wondering why theyd rather deal with port.

They would rather deal with Port because they would get a better deal. They are eyeing of a Freo youngster and are hoping to foce their way into the Carr deal.

Thommo's priority is to get back home but he does have slight preference to Crows. Interesting times ahead now.

There is also a chance that no deal gets done and Stinger stays with us. Next week will be one wierd trade period.

How high of a chance is there that Stinger is going to stay? He clearly wants to go back to WA so how will he feel about this? (I know he said that he's happy to stay if Crows don't get a satisfactory trade but how happy will he be really?)

Port have a lot more depth in their list, so they have more to trade. The AFC has such as indifferent list in which we have so many "untouchables", yet the ones we are happy with leaving lack the quality needed to make suitable trades.

With Carr, he will either help us in our quest, or be a real obstacle. With him being set to announce his defection to Perth, Port will want a midfielder to replace him. Melbourne will see this and try to trade with Port, giving up Thompson for something much better than the likes we would have offered.

I know that we will play HARDBALL and would have to be winners out of the trad in order to let him go. We are holding all the cards. Stinger has signed an agreement with the Eagles which means that they will trade to get him. We want something pretty good for him and if we don't get it, Stinger stays another year.

Personally I think Stinger deal will get done because Eagles and Crows have a history of getting the deals done.

haha yeah i know, but im confident stinger deal will get done. I think West Coast are obviously pretty keen, and in the wash up theyll give us a decent deal. Saw in the paper this morn that Butler wants to come home, altho word was it was Waters who was homesick. Id think wed have more chance of getting Butler tho.
if we were doing a seperate deal to get thompson, what do you think wed give up, now that port may enter the fray?. Carr going to freo sure does complicate things, as you say, interesting times ahead.

Stiff, what do you think the Crows will be aiming at to receive from West Coast?

At this time I expect pick 12, as there will still be many quality players left, and I wouldn't be surprised if the likes of Meesen and DeLuca were still avaliable.

This is pure speculation but is it possible that the deal has already been done and they are waiting for trade week to begin so they can announce it?
If this is the case then Carr not having announced his decision further supports the idea that the Stenglein trade wont involve Thompson.

Doubt it will be pick 12 because we already refused that. I expect it to be a player of equal value. Who knows???

I think its very possible. The teams have had a month or so to trash out the possibilities. I wouldn't be surprised if that speculation is true and we get the annpouncement tommorrow or the day after that the deal is done.

from what i have gathered, u guys have flatley refused our first round pick. u will not touch it alone or packaged with a player. u guys must have a target player u want.

Stenglein and pick 24 for Waters and Butler, no chance, but at least I can dream.
I would be VERY suprised of WC traded either of those.

But I must admit I am looking forward to find out what the trade will be. Hopefully those rumours of big fat Lance making his way to the Crows are load of crap :D

I think it will be Stenglein for Butler, with a draft pick in their somewhere. Butler has asked to be traded back to SA.

Its been rumoured for a while now that both Butler and Waters are homesick but that expected from 1st year players. We know that Watts is pretty homesick as well but we won't be trading him.

acg*24 (I hope I got that username right) apparently is a mate or knows a mate of Butler and everything she has passed on is that Butler is very happy in Perth and wants to stays there.

Rumours of Waters' homesickness have been stronger but I honestly can't see Eagles trading either one of those unless the circumstances were serious (eg illness in family or something like that)

If we could get rid of Shirley in a trade for a draft pick I'd do it. What about Carlton's pick 25? Hee hee...

By the way, I'm starting to think that after today's performance that Nathan Bock is the worst player on our list. Trade or Delist woud be the way to go IMHO.

I would take anything up to a 3rd round pick for Shirley, as he will never be more than a good honest player.

Would be very happy to trade Bock, as I see him no more than a HBF & IMO behind Bassett, Hart, Begley, Doughty, Torney, Massie, etc...

We wouldn't even get a 3rd rounder if we put Bock up for trade. Actually, come to think of it, his 2 year contract would have expired, it wouldn't suprise me if he was delisted.
