Time for a thread to throw around specific realistic trading ideas – note Im sure there will be an official rumour / trade period thread next week, this is not, just ideas for where you can post realistic trader targets and trade out’s for players and of course argue about them

Opposition fans wanting to contribute with genuine ideas please feel free to add too it.

Start it off: Trent Dennis-Lane for Tom Campbell/Ayce Cordy.

The Bulldogs forward line is stagnant missing both big men and fast men and had one of the worst ratios ever for inside 50s converted to goals. What they don’t lack is ruckman under development, with Minson having his best year and resigning you can that to Jordan Roughead, Ayce Cordy and Tom Caampbell. The Swasn ruck division is well into it’s late 20s, Seaby to be shown the door and White requesting a trade a younger developing ruckman is required for our squad. There is a fair chance that with player management there going to get game time next year as well.

For the dogs Trent Dennis Lane is capable of adding some spark and speed to their forward line as well as been a good set shot.

Of course TDL or Campbell are not without flaws but the chance to work on them still exists for both clubs and could have contributors with a win/win trade.

Ayce Cordy will not be given away

Fair call, except to say there has been some frustration with him at the dogs this season, however that still leaves Campbell who if Cordy is considered better they have 3 young tall’s and an inactive forward line, the target for us could well be Campbell.

I like this. More traditional swans trade and for a need. Not sure about bulldogs end, may have to chuck in a sweetener.

Everitt? :)

TDL would thrive at the dogs, something they desperately need and wouldn't cost much. 3rd rounder for mine. Their second at 25ish would be too much.

Our club will clearly have its focus on the big trade
This is true but you've also to got to take into account that if the Swans ship out pick 22 they would prefer to have another pick around that area as well which could perhaps come to them through shipping out other players for picks before swapping them all along down the chain for a high end pick from one club.

This year is a strong draft and its depth runs deep does it not?

Not sure they seem to say it every year

We should definitley be looking for a ruckman who is around 20/21 - not a skinny 18 year old, someone that has been in the system or has been playing VFL. Trying to pick ruckman in the draft seems to be a bit of a lottery, unless they are the kind of guy that demands a top 5 selection, so I think it is better to continue our policy of bringing in more developed players.

Other than that, and the obvious need for a key position forward which we appear to be addressing, I'm pretty happy with how our squad looks in terms of having players for the roles that are required. It is understandable that Jesse White is after first team opportunities elsewhere, I wouldn't be surprised if TDL is in the same situation, and I don't really have a problem with those guys being used in trades if that is what they want (at the same time I wouldn't mind retaining them for depth in the squad). If they do go and we could convert that into another second round draft pick or two I think that is the way to go, though going for a guy that has been on a list for a year or two is another possibility - I'd say a maximum of age 21-22.
