Reading the boards about the Stenglein Trade I have come to the conclusion that maybe I want too much now and have given no thought for the future.I would rather a top 10 player at WC rather than a draft pick.I also was trying to get my head around how we can beat the ''going home syndrome''
Reading a lot of posts on not only this but other trades I had a thought( it was lonely so i had another) but is it wise to draft an interstate player who is just developing and then use him in 2-3 years time to bring one of our own back?
With Pav my thought was we trade Stinger to Freo for Dylan Smith who isnt a regualr player but I feel has potential to be a regular and strong contributor we then have someone we can swap back for Pav. The other benefit of this is if the player is fantastic we may not need the player we want
And can that be a strategy for other players and clubs? Do we need to think further along than next year?
As long as we recruit people from interstate we will always have the going home problem
Lucky Kane Johnstone hasnt hurt us.
