So whats with the trading with melbourne?

Judd- Melbourne for pick.3 and 19

Davey- Saints for pick.4

I've thought about what I said yesterday... about using pick 2 to draft Cotchin, then I realised... why not use that pick to get Judd? Chances of Cotchin being better than Judd are 1-in-a-1,000,000... so if it helps us to get the man, why not use it.

This Draft is also very weak from what I have heard (with the exception of Kruezer and Cotchin... the #3 pick in this years draft would have gone #10-15 last season), so trading for young stars could be the way to go this year.

Pick 2 and pick 19 wouldn't get Judd in my opinion, I would think we would need another early-mid 1st round draft pick to get him... say a pick 5-10. Who could we trade for such a pick? Johnstone? Bruce? Green? Or a combination:
- T. Johnstone & C. Johnson to Fremantle for pick 7? I think that is fair and reasonable.
- C. Bruce & B. Miller to Brisbane for pick 6? I dunno, maybe.

Then off-load picks 2 & 7 to West Coast for Judd... sounds simple, but who knows what will happen.

I was thinking about some trades after your other posts as well. I think the main problem with your other scenarios was that Carlton was getting too much for Fev and WC was giving up too much with Judd. Carlton has tipped their hand they are overly keen to dump Fev so he will go for less than true market value for his talent. And WC will not be losing their 1st round pick as well as trading Judd. But a high #2 might be the best offer Carlton gets for Fev. A club would be taking a huge risk using their 1st rounder on him IMO.

It may be as simple as Melbourne's 2nd round for Fev, then flip Fev and the 1st round pick for Judd. That might just work, assuming WC would be willing to take on another head case for a club that already has a "culture problem". But if Judd does want out and wants to go to the Dees, WC could do worse than the #2 (or #3) and Fev for him.

It is not supposed to be a very strong draft, Melbourne already has a lot of good young players, and there are limited opportunities to get a player like Judd. Of course, the argument could be made that the weakness of the Dees isn't in the midfield and giving up the 1st and 2nd round picks and not getting a key defender wouldn't really solve anything. But I think it is worth discussing.

BTW - How many games can be won before Melbourne loses the 2nd round priority?

I think, off the top of my head that we lose priority pick if we win 5 (inclusive) or more matches.

Its true about the key defender post, but I think we should try some things in-house first (like Ferguson... yes, he has been used before, but I rate him for some reason, I just think there is something bout him that could fill that gap well... if he could just get on the park).

I dunno, I guess we'll all get all excited come Trade Week like usual, and it will again turn into a big massive fizzer with only dud's or aging stars swapping clubs.

Sounds pretty damn good if you ask me. :thumbsu:

I really hope Cameron gets down and dirty come trade week. I want something to happen!

anyone would take Davey at pick 24 you couldn't get rid of him. Sheeds would give you pick 8 for him.

Davey is untradeable he's pretty much our franchise player if u think about it

Fellas come on stop kiddin yourselves. Judd will not get traded to melbourne. Yes his a victorian boy and yes he barracked for us as a kid but he is a grown man now and why would he leave the west coast he's got it o good up there. Dont get me wrong it would be fantastic to having him running around in number 3 for us but it just wont happen. If we trade Bruce for anything l would personally be shattered, he is quality plus. ( So would me dog to coz thats who l named him after )

I wouldn't mind testing the waters with MOST of them. Not trading, just seeing what they're worth. Personally i'd like to either off-load Green, TJ or Bruce. All young players have to stay.

You don't need to trade, the demons just need limited injuries, you have good depth, i would love to coach the demons, i think you guys are close than you think!

Just get someone. Foley would be way to pricey this year but perfect last year but i still think the tiges understood what they had on their hands.

Don't know how creditable that footy talk show is on a Monday night but they all seemed to agree that Judd has a hidden injury, Possibly the dreaded OP. If that's the case he can stay where he is

Would the Dees be interested in either Ryan Murphy or Adam Campbell form Freo?

Both play FF and are good strong leads, marks and kick well. Fortunatley for us though we have Pav (for now) and Tarrant.

I think Freo will want to take Masten (WA) in the draft who should go top 4. What would Melbourne want inexchange for your number 4 pick (hypothetically if you finsh in that position)?

Leave our 1st pick out of it as i think they will chase Palmer (WA) with our pick

Would either Murphy(VIC) or Campbell(VIC) + our 2nd pick be enough?

I think other names to be thrown up may include James Walker, Daniel Gilmore, David Mundy, Ryan Crowley, Ryley Dunn.

This is all based o nthe fact that Judd and Pav both stay in the West.

I think we would only give up our first pick on a proven star. Murphy or Campbell plus a pick in the 20's would certainly not be enough.

I haven't seen any of Campbell, but I liked what I saw from Murphy last season. He is a big athletic kid with a strong leap, good hands and can kick some goals. I don't know what we could offer but I wouldn't say no to a player like him. I think he could have a bright future.

We are starting to find our next group of forwards after Neitz and Robertson, with Bate looking great at CHF and Newton a possible FF. We also have the strong-leading and versatile Dunn, but we could use Murphy too.
