Does this guy need a brain transplant or not?

Has anyone ever mentioned to him you need to bounce the ball every 15 metres?

C'mon Woosha, I think he should sit an AFL rules test, similar to a drivers license test.

There were a few close calls in the game, but Carroll pushed it a little far. It must be getting close to the stage where his experience no longer makes up for his lack of ability.

I thought he was a bit unlucky - he did bounce it once and it didn't look too far.

However, he did the same thing for Claremont against West Perth in the WAFL the other week - and that was about 25 metres!

i've stuck by trent this year to see if he can produce the goods. i now know 100% that he can't. he's getting a game because we have nobody else to play in his position. i hope we recruit somebody in the off season.

I think the umpires are particularly harsh on people like Trent Carroll and Jeremy Humm. If that was Ben Cousins or Chris Judd they would have let that go. Having said that, something needs to be done. He went through a good patch but now Carroll has gone back to his old ways of giving away alot of un-necessary free kicks. I like the AFL rules test Deepthroat.

I like Carroll because he's a bit of a psycho at times and loves a brawl. It would be great if we could carry him to the grand final
just to see the look on Docker's faces when their reject collects a premiership medallion.

I reckon we've seen the best of Trent this year, problem is his best still isn't really good enough. Whatever else you might say about him, he just isn't that good at stopping his opponent from kicking goals, which should be his number 1 priority?

If Gaspar gets fit, then that should be about it for Carroll- his only hope is a third tall defender. Even then, it'd be better to play someone like Staker ahead of him because Staker is an unknown who can develop, whereas Carroll is just marking time.

Well all I can say is that what everyone says about Carroll has a very familiar ring - very similar to what we were saying about Embers last year.

I don't think Carroll is as good as Embley or anything, but obviously he has something we can't see or he wouldn't have played 12 games this year.

I just wish Carroll would let us in on the secret...

C'mon Dreck, dimmer West Coast fans than you would grant that any team boasting Trenty-boy in a key defensive role would struggle in September.

Somehow by now I doubt that would faze a Dockers supporter.

i think at best carrol is only of use as a back up defender, the eagles need to bring on a kid for the long term, gaspar staker lynch i think would fill hes spot, then we can make trent redundent and get more kids

I don't know, apparantly the most expensive WAFL player in history was looking quite at home for Claremont in a key defensive role. He could really be the key to the premiership.

Woosha doesn't want to be playing too many kids at the one time, or we may end up like Freo with their 5yr plan (or however long it is now). However, Staker and Seaby are really pressing for selection and need to be rewarded to provide incentive for the WAFL based players.

What a stupid reason to have a player in the squad

And as for the premiership bit, well I think it was Buzz who summed it up best

No side with Trent Carroll in their 22 could be considered a premiership team

i disagree jod.

even though i don't think (hope) that carroll will be in out team next year i also believe now is not the time to be playing around with the team structure. we need to be getting stability all over the field for our finals run not blooding youngsters. carroll may yet be dropped but it would be for an experienced player.

Now rather than closer to the finals would be better I would have thought. Carroll has proved he isn't strong enough for the big forwards, and Jako is too slow to play down back nowdays. That leaves Glass on his lonesome with Milli a 50/50 prospect each week.
Theres nothing to lose by bringing in someone like Staker or Lynch to sit on the bench as a pinch hitter. Both can be used at either end, and if we get into a position where the game is in our control, give them an extended run on the ground.

I said weeks ago that the Carlton game would have been a perfect opportunity to blood some of these guy's. How many of us wish we had now?

Nothing wrong with your aspirations for a premiership this year but I don't think it will happen due to our key position weaknesses. (If Milli is fit for rest of year then maybe). But in reality we need to find another key position player because Carroll is not going to make it against the top FF and CHF's. The move with Doogs was a good first try, we have a four man bench and giving Lynch, Hansen and even Seaby a go there may be worthwhile. As we have a salary cap to bother with then keeping Carrol on a low salary may be useful as a backup, but then again it may cost us having Nicoski, Beek or Rudeforth in the main squad and all three have huge potential.
