With the return of Trent Knobel in '07', what kind of impact do you guys think this will have on Simmo. He was awesome this year taking on Richmond's ruckword pretty much single handedly, well Stafford didn't do anything IMO. Will Knobel's return mean that Simmo spends less time on the ball and more up forward. Thoughts?

Thoughts ?

Well meaning Tori but you obviously didn`t follow things too closely down our way .

Struggled to get a kick @ Coburg half the time last year ... back ? ... fact is he didn`t really go anywhere except backwards

Hard to comprehend what that actually means, IDGAF. Is Tori Trent Knobel? I thought Knobel was more than decent in 2005 and if he was playing at Coburg all '06' (which I didn't realise as I thought he was out injured for around half the season) wasn't it more to do with returning from injury?

Don't worry IDGAF....I got it....lol

btw....Troy's the boy for 07

To be honest Knobel will be lucky not to be delisted at the end of the year if indeed richmond draft a top ruck prospect in 2007.

Simmo is most damaging when in the ruck. Richmond's forward line is pretty decent at the moment with the likes of Richo, Hughes, Schulz and Reiwoldt as KPP, so I don't think he will play extended periods in attack.

At the moment I would much prefer Pattison as the backup ruckman to Knobel.

Pattison >>> Knobel

Yep, by the end of 2007, Knobel will be delisted as Patto becomes our #2 ruckmen (which he was for most of 2006) and will probably be for 2007. Knobel is just there in case Simmo gets injured, we can't have Patto rucking by himself

Thanks, guys. I love watching Simmo play and was hoping that he wouldn't be relegated to the role he played in 2005 as more of a forward than ruckman, that's all, especially after what he did in 2006 when he was spending almost all game time on the ball.

Why would we replace a guy who pushed for the AA ruck for Trent Knobel who will give decent tap work but give JS around the ground?
Doesn't even need to be asked

For those who are slower... Tori Amos ;)
Oh, thanks, mate. Actually not slow at all, the bad punctuation caught me out. I'll tell you why I didn't get it. When addressing a person, we put a comma before the person's name, i.e;

a) Well meaning Tori = Well Tori is ... or (we'll talk about Tori for a second)
b) Well meaning, Tori = Now Tori, you're meaning is good but ... or (I'll talk to Tori for a sec)

Anyway, go Tiges, I don't mind you lot at all.

Was that comma necessary ?

Big impact imo. Is Knobel that good?... no. However when he plays we win. Team balance is better.

I'm hoping he will be better, but does anyone agree that Pattison will ruck in a similar vein to Rhett Biglands of Adelaide?

We need Knobel in the team. Simmonds can't ruck all game every game. Once he tires out half way through each quarter, the oppositions 2nd ruckman will get alot more hand to the ball and create more centre breaks. Knobel is 8cm taller than Simmonds and he would have a 10cm higher vertical reach. He will get first hand to the ball more often than not and will set up more centre breaks than Simmonds. Knobel needs game time to get his confidence up so he can be usefull around the ground. Peter Street has proven what some game time can do. i think Knobel is capable of the same.

Yeah I remember that well ;). He played about half the quarter swapping with Simmo. Took about 5 strong high marks, kicked 1 goal and had about 7 or 8 possessions including a couple of great 50m passes onto the chest of Simmo up forward. Early in the 2nd quarter he did an amazing smother on the wing. An athletic bloke who will rise after a handfull of consecutive games next season ;)
