The 2009 TSL Grand Final takes place this Saturday at Bellerive Oval.

TSL Senior Grand Final
Glenorchy v Clarence - 2:05pm.

TSL Reserves Grand Final
Launceston v Glenorchy - 11:05am.

AFL Tasmania Under-19's Grand Final
Lauderdale v Clarence - 8:50am.

In the Seniors the Pies and Roos do battle for the inaugral TSL Cup, the bitterest rivals in Tasmanian football have played in six previous grand finals, all in the past thirty years, Glenorchy have won four of them.
In 1979, a Tasmanian record of 24,968 attended North Hobart to see Clarence pinch the game in the dying seconds by 3-points, in 1984 the Roos pulled off an upset by beating the in-form Magpies by 26-points in front of 14,664 people.
The same two sides would meet a year later in 1985 in the last TANFL Grand Final and Glenorchy would take home the cup in a heart-stopper by 4 points before 16,561 people.
Forward sixteen years later and the two sides would do battle in the SFL Grand Final, a crowd of only 4,801 would roll up to see the Roos do it easily over Glenorchy by 44-points.
2006 would see Clarence romp home with a 37-point victory in front of a record SFL crowd of 7,149 but in 2007 the Magpies would turn the tables and demolish Clarence by 68-points in the Grand Final in front of a crowd of 7,091.
This year, the Grand Final is at Bellerive Oval, home of the Roos, a ground in which Clarence are 10-0 at this season and have, from memory, only suffered one loss at in almost two seasons.
Glenorchy soundly beat them there early in last year's Premier League season, which from memory was Glenorchy's first win at Bellerive for a decade.
The Magpies will be buoyed by the news that Shane Piuselli has beaten his suspension rap, while the Roos will be banking on their superb record at their home ground.
For mine, after the way they demolished Burnie two weeks ago at Bellerive, I think the Pies will win the game by over five goals.

The Reserves will see Launceston and Glenorchy do battle.
Both sides convincingly defeated minor premier Clarence in the finals series to knock them out in straight sets, Launceston will start favourite but the Pies won't let them have it all their own way, Glenorchy will be confident after their terrific showing against Clarence last Sunday.

The Under 19's see Lauderdale battle Eastern Shore rivals Clarence.
The Southern Bombers have been fantastic all season and Clarence will be very evenly matched with them, Lauderdale's Under 17 team won a premiership only a year or two back, so in building their club up even further, they will be out to snag a flag here to continue the job.
Should be a great game this one, could go either way, I'll put the kiss of death on Clarence!

I was interested to see that this is the first time betting on the State League has been given the go ahead, which I would imagine may help gain the interest of a few more punters to the game.

The TOTE website however is giving me nothing, and Betfair is at a stalemate with only $29 matched. A few in line for Glenorchy at $2.08 while others are keen to lay the Roos at $1.91.

For me, the market should settle around Glenorchy at about $1.60 (perhaps shorter) and the Roos around the $2.20 mark.

Glenorchy deservedly will start favourites after there demolition job against Burnie when they had 22 contributers and looked the much more professional and fitter unit.

Clarence scrapped across the line last week against a much-improved Dockers outfit.

The unknown to this game from a punter's perspective, is how much will Clarence's dominance at their home ground have a say in proceedings? 10-0 throughout the course of the year including a comfortable win against Glenorchy earlier in the season is form you would'nt want to mess with. Glenorchy did however show in their win against Burnie that they have the gameplan to play well at Bellerive.

I'm still undecided on a tip, and will be back later in the week to give one.

Anyone else like to shed some light on what they believe to be fair odds for both sides?

Well I wasn't too far off.

Glenorchy at $1.49 and Clarence paying $2.32 on Betfair with a bit more money in the kitty.

Thinking I might get on Norky if they get around $1.60

Heading to the match on Saturday - should be a great one! Wonder what size crowd we're looking at?

I'll be there too hcd.

The AFL Tas line is that they will be happy with 5k+, and that the crowd at the GF is not a determinant of the success of the the first year of the TSL, but to me, if they don't get a decent crowd, then what's the point.

I think secretly they will be dissapointed with anything less than 7-8k. Forecast looks pretty promising, and the weather this week has been the best its been since autumn.

My tip, crowd will exceed expectations, around 9,000

Also noted that the TOTE now has released the odds:

Glenorchy $1.33
Clarence $3.05

Betfair has it at ($220 matched):

Glenorchy $1.41
Clarence $2.40

Still can't work out who would buy the Tote (even more surprising is that it turns a profit)- odds on the favourite are always less favourable!

Glenorchy definately firming up, looks like my hopes of $1.60 are gone. Might put some in line and see if I get a bite.

Notable that Glenorchy and Clarence were the last two premiers of the TFL. 1 day to go!

Crowd about 6.5 to 7K, and Glenorchy to win by about 3 goals. I don't think they'll have it all their own way but I just think the Roo's could show some wear and tear from last week's Prelim Final against the Dockers. The start will be crucial to both teams chances.

Am going Launceston and Lauderdale to win the curtain raisers.

A warm, occasionally sunny, now cloudy and windy afternoon for the TSL Grand Final with an expected top of 19C.
The Tasmanian Under-19's Grand Final has been run and won, with Lauderdale going through the season undefeated with a 44-point win over Clarence.
The Bombers getting out to a 25-point half time leading whilst restricting Clarence to just two scoring shots for the half.
Clarence making a brief comeback in the third quarter to reduce Lauderdale's lead to 17-points at the final change, but Lauderdale raced away again in the final quarter with 4.3 whilst keeping Clarence scoreless.
A 44-point win to the Bombers, much of that squad being involved in the AFL Tasmanian Under-17's Premiership over North Hobart two years ago and a bright future awaits.

Tasmanian Under-19's Grand Final
Lauderdale: 3.2 (20) | 5.7 (37) | 6.8 (44) | 10.11 (71)
Clarence: 1.0 (6) | 2.0 (12) | 4.3 (27) | 4.3 (27)

In the TSL Reserves Grand Final Launceston have just won the match very comfortably, a 47-point win to the Blues over Glenorchy.
After an even first half in which the Blues led by 4-points at half time, the Blues blew the game open in the third quarter with four unanswered goals to take a five goal lead at the final change.
The Blues went on with it in the last quarter with three more continuing to keep the Magpies goalless with a 7.8 to 0.7 second half, on route to a 47-point victory.

Only minutes awayfrom the start of the Grand Final.

According to ABC Radio the crowd is about 5,500 at this stage with a lengthy queue outside the ground stretching right around the corner and down to the beach.
A good crowd looks to be building from the pictures on TV.
The Tassie Medal was won by Kurt Heazlewood who beat Jeromey Webberley from Clarence.
