The Adelaide Uni Soccer Club is having a fundraiser BBQ this Sunday, and we'd love to have your support... I've attached an e-mail I got about it, I hope is sorta explains it n stuff, if not, umm, just look out for it in the media, n stuff...

I write to seek your support with the upcoming Adelaide University Soccer
>Club's(AUSC) Charity Match/BBQ that is held in aid of the victims of the
>recent Asian Tsunami and Earthquake.
>
>The AUSC is a very multicultural club, which attracts a large number of
>overseas students each year. These players will often be at the club for the
>term of their university studies and as such, will forge strong bonds with
>the city of Adelaide and its people.
>
>Unfortunately, most of these wonderful individuals come from the region
>affected by the recent tragedy that resulted from the Earthquake and Tsunami that has devastated whole communities and killed many of its people.
>
>The players of the AUSC are very concerned about their friends that have
>returned home for the break, and have frantically been trying to contact
>them with little success. We are feeling rather helpless at present, as are
>most of us, but have decided to hold a charity Soccer Match and BBQ as a
>small token of our support for the players, their families, and their
>compatriots.
>
>The players involved in organising the event are volunteering their time
>with all proceeds from the event to go to the victims. We also hope that
>this will entice other sporting bodies to mobilise their members and do what
>they can to contribute to the aid effort.
>
>We have had great support from the Goodwood business community including Bakers Delight, The Goodwood Butcher, and
>others such as the British Hotel, the Goodwood Hotel and Cellars,
>Gourmandiser, Bunnings, Angelakis Brothers, Renniks Hire and many others.
>
>We are also getting solid backing from most Adelaide Radio Stations and News Papers, all of whom have committed to promoting the event over the next few days.
>
>We are also still desperately short of the following:
>1. Soft drinks
>2. Water
>3. Beer
>4. Ice
>5. Meat
>
>We thank you for your consideration of our request for support and hope that
>you will be able to help with this great humanitarian cause.
>

That’s a good idea for a few thousand dollars and every cent is worth giving but I would like the Adelaide Crows vs. Port Adelaide Power to have an early showdown match as a trial game, or like Essendon have a Crows vs. Power cricket game at Norwood or Alberton in about 3 or 4 weeks and that could be something of an official South Australian football community donation to the tsunami appeal. South Australians pull together at a special time like this and Iam sure it will be a success.

Even if we do need to recruit dizzy and boof for the one day game.

Where is the AUSC home ground? In the Goodwood area?

As for a SA charity match, how about a Crows/Port team cricket team v the Redbacks, under lights at Adelaide Oval?

That's a great idea, I hope people support it.

While we're on the topic of the tsunami, my friend was in Thailand at the time and still is, desperately searching for her mother who is still missing. You might have read about it in the Advertiser today.
If anyone would like to help, I'd appreciate some help searching the internet for any information that may help my friend and her family.

Thanks, Bec.

Redbacks wouldnt agree, theyd get beaten by the crows/port team

Red backs all out for a lazy 39, 5 goals 9 points = 39

Good cause. I really hope for a good turn out!

Skip, very sorry to hear about your friend. my wishes and thoughts are with your friend at this testing time.

We're thinking of having another in a few weeks, so all can have more notice... I'll keep you posted so you can come along and kick my ass at soccer :p
