Geez mate, all I wanted to know was the number of Geelong games on both Foxtel and FTA last year so I could work out how much worse off those who don't have Foxtel are this year (for Geelong games anyway). No one likes a smarta*se..

Hahaha. I honestly didn't know quite what you meant, and I wasn't trying to be a smarta*se. I didn't know what you knew about Foxtel. Wanna share a valium with me ;)

If the Sunday early match is played in Canberra, Launceston or the Gold Coast, it will be replayed later that evening on Seven.

it's looks like I'll be on my bike to sign up for foxtel :(

hopefully I've done something wrong though, or hopefully Austar's Fox Sports is different to Foxtel's??

So between rounds 5 and 13 Geelong wont be on FTA? FFS...

So between rounds 5 and 13 Geelong wont be on FTA? FFS...

it doesn't matter as long as we get to watch collingwood constantly on FTA, remember they are the centre of the universe after all. It makes you wonder doesn't it at the hypocrisy of the AFL stating that 16 teams in the comp are required, they have no plan to shift melbourne clubs interstate and yet at the same time give the struggling clubs less FTA exposure and therefore revenue dollars by rigging the draw to accomodate the wealthier clubs with the higher supporter base (bigger ratings).
I can fully understand people being happy to subscribe to Foxtel and state they don't mind if Geelong (and other clubs) spend more time of Foxtel but the fact remains FTA exposure means more advertising clout and thus larger and more numerous sponsor dollars in the long run. If the magpies got the same f****d up deal that many clubs get year after year then eventually they would be struggling as well.

That's the best argument for FTA I've heard so far. Excellent points SDSH.

Yep, agreed. Brian Cook was on the radio a couple of days ago pointing out these things. The main thing most sponsors want is air time - their logo all over the place. That's why they'll go to Collingwood, Essendon etc., first.

For the price of a couple of coldies every weekend ya might as well subscribe to it anyway!

i dont know where you drink, it must be uni nights.

but at around $55 a month on top of the ordinary subscription there will be a lot of supporters frozen out. especially when they currently get the Fox Sports 3 channel for nothing.

The Geelong website is saying this:

Under the AFL fixture, Geelong is guaranteed nine free to air games and eight on Foxtel, with five to be determined.

Foxtel is offering free connection at present. The basic package and the sports package costs $51.90 per month (Basic package $36.95 & Sports package with fox3 $14.95). That is all.

Austar is offering a no lock in contract, $25 off installation, and costs for the basic package and the sports package (with fox3) $51.90 per month.

I don't work for either but to watch footy on paytv is going to cost you $51.90 per month (+/- installation costs). If you choose to get or not to get paytv then that is your decision and has nothing to do with me.

We are about to install Foxtel at my place.

The monthy cost of $52.90 is being split between 3 of us, so its only going to cost me $17.60 a month.

NAB Cup telecast schedule 1st week:

Friday February 23
Port Adelaide v Adelaide - AAMI Stadium (N) – Foxtel
Kangaroos v Collingwood – Gold Coast Stadium (N) – Channel Seven

Saturday February 24
Western Bulldogs v Sydney – Manuka Oval – Foxtel
Carlton v Essendon – Telstra Dome (N) – Network Ten
St Kilda v Brisbane Lions – Cazaly Stadium – (N) – Channel Seven

Sunday 25 February
Geelong v Richmond – Skilled Stadium – Network Ten
Melbourne v Hawthorn – Telstra Dome (N) – Foxtel
Fremantle v West Coast – Subiaco (N) - Foxtel

I thought I heard that all early Sunday games would be replayed on 7 at 10.30pm. What this about only getting the Hawthorn game replayed?

I'm confused.. (yes i know hard to believe.. but anyway)... SO even though I have foxtel (well my flatmate has it, and she doesnt expect me to chip in for the bill at all), AND all the sports channels 1-3 right now.. As soon as the season begins they'll be locked out.

Fantastic.

Ah well, doesnt worry me too much. I think there are only 4 Geelong interstaters on Foxtel. I'll be at all the other games in Victoria anyway, so go ******** yourself Foxy. :p
