Yep, not seeing it.

He has good survival skills and is pretty fit, if he could find his way north a bit and with a good disguise, he could manage it I think. Too cold where he was and food is scarcer.

Up around central NSW on, wild food sources are abundant with minimal trapping skills required.

Or he's killed himself and made it real difficult for searchers to find his body, but which I wouldn't have thought was in the plan.
Unless he has mental health issues (aside from being a SovCit), I doubt he would have killed himself. He could have however died by misadventure. I think he would be a hero to his fellow SovCits and have lots of contacts and would have no problem finding a kind helper to keep him safe.

They'd need to be a pretty radical kind of SovCit to harbour a cop killer.

Although, he might have had help with a vehicle I'm thinking.

Of interest:

"Now Daily Mail can reveal fresh details have emerged that Freeman's phone initially remained switched on after he staged his getaway.

Although Victoria Police refused to comment, Daily Mail understands the device was detected near the Porepunkah airfield when it pinged local cellphone transmitters on the day of the shooting"

As the crow flies it isn't too far from his property:

I am surprised that someone like Dezi would even have a phone registered in his name.

If he was around the airfield that would probably discount a trip down stream as the buckland river was much closer to his property.

The area of the recent search was in bushland near Buckland river. With a 90 min headstart he could be anywhere if he is actually deceased, in many mineshafts / caves.

And looking for a body. Three weeks ago the police were investigating the acoustics of a gun shot that occurred 20 minutes or so after DF fled.

Putting those two pieces of information together, I wonder if the police are pursuing the theory that that gunshot was him ending his own life.

No news from police shooting guns in the bush or cadaver dog searches. What next by VicPol?

The no-fly zone around Porepunkah airstrip might have come several hours too late.
It makes you wonder whether someone helped him escape. Surely light aircraft movements would be recorded. Not sure what the radar coverage is like. That area is directly below the main flight route between Sydney and Melbourne. I would imagine it is closely monitored.
