Zantuck cleared
August 13, 2002

RICHMOND defender Ty Zantuck has been cleared of engaging in rough play against Fremantle's James Walker by the AFL Tribunal.

Zantuck pleaded not guilty to the charge, arguing he accidentally ran into Walker once he realised he couldn't get the ball in Saturday's game at the MCG.

He said he kept his arm tucked in and tried to turn his body to reduce the level of impact.

Tribunal chairman Brian Collis said Zantuck deserves the benefit of the doubt and has cleared him to play in Friday night's game against Hawthorn.

The engaging in rough play charge is so vague that it is nearly impossible to prosecute. Luck for us they didn't put him up on charging - may have been in a bit more trouble!

Funny isn't it! Earlier in the year Richmond was labelled as soft and now one of our players is considered a consistent tough nut. Some in the media even consider him overly rough.

Keep it up Ty, show yoiur team-mates the way.

Yep, lucky. He's visited the tribunal way too many times this year (once is enough!) so I'm surprised history didn't go against him too.

Go Ty! Stick it up 'em ;).
