REM for me.
Pretty good live band too.

REM lost the spirit will Bill retired. They are better if you dug their early work. Top of the Pops era, U2 has them covered. They put out consistently good product throughout, despite Bono's wankiness.

I got into REM with their second album and saw them about the time Stipe was becoming more showman. Very good show. I like them more than U2.

I wish REM were still going .
Didt get to see them live.
But I listen to thier live stuff ..I think they a very good live act.

Seen U2 live they tired to be really loud.
We're alright live .

Same. But then I do that with later U2 as well.

I was listening to REM's "Reckoning" recently because I got a cheap CD of it and I liked a bunch of songs on it. More than I can say for anything by U2 and that includes early stuff like "New Year's Day" and "I Will Follow". Both bands have kind of weak or vague lyrics but at least REM's guitarists can play an original tune.

On the other hand I could have given my vote to U2 just for their services to comedy.
