the umpiring didn't cost us the game, but it was sensationally bad. Especially the numerous dodgy decision against us in the last quarter that seemed to rob us of momentum. But the one that sticks in my mind is Gibbs's spoil running back with the flight of the ball and getting the punch... free to Adelaide.

terrible umpiring today especially last qtr it was like 12-2 or something like that.. unreal

didnt cost us but agree didnt help us get some momentum going

Agreed it didn't cost us the game but it looked disgusting from where I was sitting. Since when does punching the ball into the crowd warrant a free kick to the opposition in front of goal???

How frustrating was that bit of play !!!!! was definatly not over the shoulder and had all eyes for the ball !!!!!!!!!!

Simmo was strangled inside fifty and didnt get a free kick. Some would think it robbed us of the game . imo it was one of the factors why we lost , others being....
1) playing the wings , you would think after the first half they would try to play direct footy down the guts , one play in the last quarter were they did play through the guts , resulted in a goal by judd , simple direct footy will win you games, you can play tempo footy , but not when you are 4 goals down in the last quarter !

2) disposal was absolutly shocking , gibbs , carrots , scotland , fev even blazing away a few times in the third quarter .

3)Mr Ray Chambalene think thats how you spell it , soft free kicks , certainly was not consistent.
A stack of push in the back and over the shoulder free kicks were certainly not paid , i did get the pleasure in booing him off after the game he had a huge grin on hes face did not no what it meant.

Was ashocking disgrace and it nearly did cost us the game cos we lost by thirty and they must of cheated us out of 4-5 goals. So probably didnt cost us the game but pretty close to it.

Yep Gibbs ran back looked straight up and punched - wrong

Mcleod tapped the ball in a tackle middle of the ground with one hand - should have been holding the ball - nope holding the man

Waite wasting time - all clear had not been given so punched was still when the clock was running.

Some scratch of the head decisions.


We still need to work harder though

fev got chopped over the shoulder a few times of course it wasn't paid though!!!!!!!! to his credit he didnt utter a word. but i also agree umpiring didn't cost us 100% of the game. It was purely our refusal to kick the ball down the guts rather than handball happy times around CHB and our shiteous kick outs.

a terrible standard of consistant decision making by all umps
they evened up the ledger after half time
too many soft frees,over officiating does my head in
or selective frees at crucial moments
let the game runs it course in the spirit of the contest
there was no spirit in alot of the umps calls today
either for and against us

I was at the game you fool. I have seen plenty of freekicks given to players wasting time and doing stupid things like that. To be honest, it probably wasnt worth giving us a goal but the free was there.

I'm not trolling, but may I point out the free kick count was 15-6 at three quarter time to u guys.

The first three quarters can change a game, and we got shocking decisions there, yet you're complainin about one quarter of shit umpiring.

Yes you got a bad run, but most of them were there and the game was pretty much over anyways.

The Waite one was there, I remember Scotty Thompson doing something similiar a couple years ago when Chamberlain was umpiring and the same decision was given. It probably should have gone back to the centre tho both times and go from there.

This is why we lost the game. Not umpiring. The whole game was filled with a few shocker decisions, but there were too many terrible descisions in the last quarter against us.
However as I said, this did not not lose us the game. But it sure did kill the game.

So two goals in a row resulting from free kicks didnt win you the game in the last quarter after we kicked one? a little dubious dont you think. what was even more interesting was another field umpire said ray after the waite decision good decision ray... good decision worst decision of 08 by far ! and yes i do beleive that these two free kicks that resulted in two goals before the ball was bounced did cost us momentum! i would think if the shoe was on the other foot you would be doing the same thing 10 free kicks to two in the last ? lol shocking , yes we were winning the free kick count at 3/4 time , but we did lay more tackles and more pressure wich resulted in our free kicks . Most of the free kicks in the last were the softest ive ever seen , or not there at all!

25 points down after Vince goaled with 8 minutes to go against a good side with all the momentum (pre the Waite free). Thereotically a win still possible but you never would have won from there. I think Waite decision was bizarre, must happen all the time, never paid before but we were slaughtered by the umpire until 3/4 time. It all evened out. Our pressure was excellent from 1/4 time

No offence, on yesterday's game, the crows are not a top 4 side (certainly will make the finals but aren't a legit flag threat) ...

Our lack of a decent ready ruckman, and the poor kicking at goal, and the crucial turnovers (which I think is probably more down to our young list and inexperience more then anything) and the fact Crows had some decent vets who know how to win games during clutch quarters, was the biggest contribution to our loss, however the umpiring really was the worst standard i've seen at a Carlton game for several years, and now I know why people hate Razor Chambermaid, he's a tosser ..
