At least four dogdy decisions - 2 each.

The Silva one was terrible.

I think the S Fleming one was bad too, althoguh hawkeyes suggest otherwise, too much doubt surely.

Lets hope the umpiring doesnt decide the world cup

This match could and should provide the catalyst to some long awaited changes in the way the third umpire is used. It is imperative that such poor decisions are eradicated from the game.

The method I propose is as follows - when an umpire is under the impression that a batsman may be out LBW, and would otherwise call it in favor of the bowler, he quickly refers it to the third umpire.

By the use of video, if there exists any major doubt in the mind of the third umpire (eg, a huge snick onto the pad or the ball clearly pitching outside the line of leg stump, neither of which rely on Hawkeye), then he adjudicates such that the benefit of the doubt is awarded in favor of the batsman.

Otherwise the LBW stands in favor of the bowler. Whether they are yet prepared to trust Hawkeye as much a tennis officials appear to be I'm not quite sure. But we use technology for run outs, stumpings, boundaries and some catches - why not for LBW when it is apparent that there exists a clear problem with the potential decision of the central umpire.

If a series of poor decisions by otherwise elite umpires in the semi final of the World Cup cannot initiate such a change, I'm unsure what can. These two umpires are supposedly in the best five in world cricket - but even they need assistance to get some decisions correct.
