i agree with:
joe smith (biggest bust of a #1 pick!?)
aaron trahair (the golden boy of aussie b-ball" eff off !)
christian laettner (one of the most celebrated collegiate players... ok, one nba all-star season...)
mighty mouse (after ROY... he could prob still put up 20-10 on a weak arse team)
purvis.. had an awesome break out 'most improved player' season, but that was it...

the rest...

stanley roberts (talented, but too much of a fat f*ck)
j.bender (hasnt been given the mins, but he's still young!)
kandi (still a waste of a #1 pick... but is decent this yr)
googs ('baby bird' has never been the same since that seizure on the team bus)
penny hardaway (injuries cut short this brilliant player.. at one stage, i'd say the #2 best player behind MJ.. unstoppable !)
tony dumas (the drugs... was a rookie surprise)
sam bowie (had some decent seasons... but would always look sh*t being the #2 pick behind akeem, and one pick before that man)

My all under-acheiving team

PG-marbory-been with 3 teams has yet to embrace that a point guard should lead and actually distribute the ball

SG-Allan Houston-he of the $100 million contract must realise that defence is the thing you do at the other end of the court.

SF-Kevin garnett -(in post season) yes he gets great stats but he has been playing for 7 seasons now and has yet to get past the first round of the playoffs.especially that he is the highest paid player in the league.no-one remembers players who average 20-10 every season,only players who perform at crunch time.KG is a good defender and rebounder but he MUST step up in the playoffs.His career average is on;y 19.0 points per game and in the playoffs is 19.5ppg

PF-Chris Webber- ive already gone thru this but the simple fact is that webber is the most talented big man in the game but has done nothing at all in his career to improve himself.He has needed to be surounded by good players to get to the play-offs.he gets nice stats but is still a poor free throw shooter and a poor defender whilest playing man to man.He has a career average of 22.1 ppg and a playoffs average of 21.4.he also has a shocking 62% average from the free-throw line

C-Shawn Bradley-no need to go into details

Yes some of these selections may seem a bit harsh but my gauge
of success is pased on play-off performances and rings.And has the player tried to bring a new aspect to his game each season.Does he make his teammates better?All of these players are on big contracts and with big contracts come big expectations.

I welcome any constuctive comments on my selections

i agree with the leading part... and probably decision-making...
but with a very healthy career average of 8.2 apg, how much more passing would he need?

i've replied to the c-webber nomination on a previous post that got wiped out...

might also wanna add devean george... after signing extension, thought he was the one to replace r.fox from the starting lineup... prob. outplayed by slava medvedenko

Marbury isnt exactly underachieving??? As Coxy pointed out he has a career average of over 8apg and is a great scorer. Now with some help in Phoenix via the Matrix and rookie Stoudemire the Suns could actually be pretty good in the next few years.

Houston is only underachieving because he wants to. He is a great shooter and scorer. If he had half the drive of MJ then he would spend his summers off working on his post game, his defence, his passing, rebounding. But he doesnt, he isnt underachieving, more not really caring.

Garnett is the worst of the lot. The guy is in the top 5 or 6 players in the league. The reason he has never made it out of the first round is because he has no help. Look around.....he still has no help. Hudson, Szczerbiak, Nesterovic, these guys arent gonna bring the T-Wolves championships. If anything I feel sorry for KG because the bigwigs upstairs arent doing enough to surround KG with the talent he needs to help win a title.

Webber is another silly selection. He is only the most complete 4 in the game. He does it all and is currently leading Sacramento towards a championship. C-Webb in no way, shape or form is underachieving.

If you think Bradley is underachieving then you must be in the minority that believe that he could actually be a superstar??? He doesnt have the toughness, the strength or the offensive game to be any better than he is. Now if Yao Ming plays like Bradley in 5 years...then that's underachieving. If anything Bradley is maxing out his own skills.

marbury -has been playing for 6 seasons now he has a career average of .429 from the field and this season it is .422 so as you can see he is not exactly working on his shot. i call that underachieving.Every year Kobe ,t-mac and others come back better then the year before but obviosly not stephon

garnett- u forgot to mention joe smith,marc jackson,terell brandon and anthony peeler.i dont expect him to win a championship with that lot but how bout a first-round playoff for starters?

Bradley-when bradley was selected as the number 2 pick in 93 he was every bit as touted as Ming.he was taken ahead of penny remember,so it must of been a big minority.

j.kidd's career average is .405... your point?
nash/stockton/payton are the notable (top line) PG's that shoot above 45%..

cassell/miller/davis/francis are shooting around the same % as marbury.. are they considered underachievers as well?

obviously kobe & t-mac are in a totally different class...
and they both, had the luxury of having a chance to grow and develop slowly... whereas starbury was thrust into a starting PG position, and expected to star right away...(which he pretty much has, and has always ranked amongst the top group of PGs ever since his rookie season).. cant say that about t-mac nor kobe in their respective positions... always easier to 'improve' when u starting from a lower base..

Joe Smith, Jackson, Peeler???? He needs more help than that I'm afraid, even to get by the first round. Brandon has been gone pretty much for two years now with injury. Garnett has absolutely nothing to do with underachieving.

Webber has a far superior all round game compared to Duncan's.

Bradley...he had nowhere near as much hype as Ming. For starters Ming was a dead cert for the number 1 draft pick. Bradley didnt even go first. Bradley doesnt have the offensive game of Ming. Bradley was never gonna be a superstar, not sure why you thought he was going to be?

Yes it will ... I heard he needs to average about 19ppg to keep his career average above 30ppg. Dont think he will do it, but he isnt about stats and numbers, he wants to win and if that means only scoring 16 a game then so be it.

Jason Williams is underachieving because hes mentally unstable. He is without a doubt one of the stupidest, talented player going round. He either decides to take a 3 from the half way line, or pass the ball with his shoulder.

The guy will always be a selfish show pony.

Dunleavy has been fantastic for the Pacers this season. Granger gets the hype but Mike has been the Pacers best quite easily this season and is the only reason the team still has a chance for the playoffs despite the other 2 keys to the team being missing most of the season. Wouldn't say he's underachieving at all if he can maintain this level for a few seasons.
