has anyone had anything happen that they just cant explain, are there ghosts out there

jan 99, i was 16 and my mum was going away for the weekend
she offered myself and 3 mates a slab and a bbq if we put a sprinkler system in the front yard while she was away

the boys came around early on the sat morning, and we finished about 5
so on went the bbq and out came the beer, one slab wasnt going to be enough, so we bought another, and a bottle of jim beam

anyway, we were getting stuck into the beer and early that morning we were still going strong
playing tiger woods golf on playstation, something we had turned into a drinking game
when the globe on the lamp blew, no dramas, i had a look around and there wasnt a spare one, so i turned on the main lights in the loungeroom on

would have been about and hour and half later, we were still playing playstation, when the lights dimmed all the way down, really slowly, and then up again

no the lights were on a dimmer switch but no one was within a couple of meters of the switch

it scared the crap out of us, i know there was a lot of alcohol involved, but even so.......

i dont know if i believe in ghosts, or what happened, electrical fault maybe

but just the way it happened, with the globe in the lamp blowing, then the main lights dimming

anyway, anyone got any stories?

I stayed at my Nannas house at the start of the year.

I had my alarm clock set because I had to go to work the next day (I was house sitting).
I woke up in the morning, to find my alarm hadn't gone off.
I didn't think much of it at the time.

But when I got home from work, I noticed that it had been unplugged!!

There was no one in the house except me!
Freaked me out a bit!

It wasnt like the clock was thrown and it came out, the clock was in the same spot, and the plugs were about 5cm apart, like it had been unplugged by hand!

I know a family who say that their was a ghost in the home that they were living at. This would have been 10 years ago. They say that every night, their were footsteps in the kitchen. Every night without fail. Just footsteps walking round and round the kitchen. After a while, they just ignored it, because they had become used to it. Sounds like a good time to watch ghostbusters.:D

Thats quite interesting, because about 10 years ago I used to go to a pub and get really trashed every night, then on my way home I somehow always ended up in the wrong house, in someone else's kitchen!!

I would walk around for a while trying to work out where I was, then finally made it out.

When my daughter was 3 or 4, she looked at me one day and said "Mummy, when I was here before, and had a different mummy, why did I have to go back to heaven before I came back again?"

She comes out with the freakiest stuff all the time. She sees dead people. Seriously.

Another time she said "you know that princess who died? She told me she's very happy her mother is still alive, but she'll be happier when her mum moves house." Weird stuff..........

The house I was raised in had some pretty crazy happenings over the years. My parents told me about them after we had moved out and when I was old enough. (I was to young to understand at the time).

Scary stuff though. I am greatful that I was young and oblivious to what was happening around me, that's for sure!

When i was 17 i came home from school after i had been out and about. It was about 6pm and it was winter, i went into my room and threw my heater on and sat in front of it.

I was really tired and before long i fell asleep cross legged sat down right in front of my electric heater. Wasnt asleep for long but when i awoke it was pitch black in my room as i had fallen asleep while it was still relatively light and hadnt had a light on.

As soon as i awoke i couldnt see but for some reason i knew beyond no doubt in my mind that there was a small boy sitting right next to me, i couldnt see but i just knew he was there....i absolutely freaked, jumped up threw the light on, opened the door of my room and just ran...

Later i put it down to being asleep and waking in a strange enviroment etc etc....but you never know.

Another one..my mum when she was about 14 back in England was playing with all the local kids digging up the road outside. She then decided to go inside and grab her pocket knife, Mum's old house had a staircase going straight up to a landing and then it separated to go left and right to two separate bedrooms. Mum went up the stairs and fished around for her pocketknife, once she got it and came back out to the top of the stairs there was a large black wispy figure with long knifes for arms standing on the other landing in the entrance to the other bedroom.

Mum was so scared but didnt know what to do as to get away from it she had to run towards it to go down the final lot of stairs and out the front door. So she just ran and it just stood there, when she got parents attention it was gone.......

This all sounds like another episode of...... "The Extraordinary" ;)

Seriously, I used to freak everytime this show was on tv, it was on at night, with that Warrick Moss and his deep voice.......

I always turn the light off in my room when i leave the house. When i get back the light is usually on, this happens about 7 times out of 10. My mates thought i was full of sh|t so i did a demonstration. We left, i turned the light off, we came back and it was on. I'm positive that something weird is going on in there but it doesn't bother me. I've never seen any ghosts or heard noises, so he/she can keep turning the light on and off at there pleasure!

My cousin had a friend at high school who said she had a ghost in her house. Everyone thought she was telling porky pies so my cousin went to stay over at her house to see if there was any truth to her claims. All was well until they turned the lights off. They started to hear some tapping noises, she turned on her bedside lamp and she could see the keys on her laptop computer being pushed in. My cousin told her to go turn on the screen so that they could see what the person was writing but she was too scared to move. After about a minute it stopped and they turned the lights off again to try and get some sleep. My cousin was sleeping on the floor next to her bed, when she woke up she lifted her head and whacked right into a drawer that was above her. Every drawer and cupboard in the room was opened. Freaky stuff.

Lol so did I, I would have been about 13, and could never sleep afterwards.
Recently I saw a repeat or something at 11am or something and it was just plain funny!

I've only ever had one "ghost story" and that was one evening in 99, when I'd been trying to sleep and couldn't because I was extremely worried about something. So I sat up, and suddenly saw this figure come towards me. Suddenly I was very tired, and thought to myself "Oh, it's a ghost", but I was suddenly very calm as well, and went to sleep, knowing it was a ghost, but just not worrying, which is too weird, because normally if I think something like that I panic.

I like to think it was my grandfather.

Last one and by far my favourite and the scariest....

Same house and my mum was around the same age, maybe younger, when at around 6pm my gran asked my mum to help her change the sheets on her bed. It was the same house and at the bottom of the stairs there was a curtain that draws across to close off the tv room. Anyway, my mum and gran go up stairs and get the sheets to the bed and they started making the bed. Then my gran got one of the sheets and threw it into the air, you know what i mean...to get it all out and across the bed. However as the sheet fell to the bed my Gran dived forward, hissed at my mum with the hands and nails outstretched. My mum screamed jumped across the bed, ran down the stairs threw open the curtain to the tv room and my gran and grandad were sitting on the couch watching tv....... FREAKY!!

That's officially freaky but Chris23's story worries me the most: all the witnesses

Footsteps on the floorboards, shower coming on late at night by itself, doors opening with no-one walking through, ornaments moving from place to place around the home.

There are others but they are to long to explain, but you can get an general idea from the above. Besides, most of you would think I'm either bull$hitting or a complete nutter if I did go on..:D :)

This thread is so damn scary!

mandy ... your kid is the scariest! :o

LOL@Ripper, must've been a hell of an experience ;) (that was too lame ...)

It's weird really. It's not scary when she says those things. She says it with innocence and conviction, and she thinks it's normal. I don't discourage her at all, I just let her talk about it. The older she gets though, the more guarded she's becoming. I think she's starting to realise that not everyone can see what she does.

While is was standing at the other side of the room to where my compter is, something really freaky suddenly happened to the computer:

The Start menu opened, Shut-down was selected one of the options was picked and O.K. pressed and then the comuter turned off and then restarted again!

All this happen while I was standing over 5 meters away from the computer!!
