I need a program or something that I can practice UNIX commands on for an upcomming UNIX exam I am sitting.

The problem is, I don't have Linux installed, and I can only access my shell account at TAFE because it's hosted on the Internal Server.

Is there anything out on the net like free/cheap shell accounts? UNIX that runs in windows?

Thanks

Install linux on your computer at home (make it dual boot). That way you can have linux and windows on the same machine.

Then get VMware, that way you can run linux inside windows.

To install Linux on my computer, wouldn't I have to re-format my hard disk to create a Linux partition?

I can't really format at the moment until i get a 2nd hard disk to back up all my data too.

Ok, I managed to back up all my work, and used FDISK to create the partitions needed.

I'm now running a dual-boot. Got XP Pro and Red Hat 8 running, although i'm not really that impressed with red hat.

I had the decision to install either Red Hat 8 or Mandrake 9. Did I make the right decision?

Thanks.
