With the arivlas of several fringe players, there is goin to be some very unhappy blokes once the first team is selested in round 1 2005.
Here are a list of players that might be in the heat:

Troy Schartze
Aaron Fiora
Steven Baker
Brent Guerra
Stephen Milne
Sam Fisher
Leigh Fisher
Leigh Montagna
Raphael Clarke
Xavier Clarke
Justin Peckett
Allan Murray
Mark McGough
Jason Gram
Stephen Powell
Andrew Thompson (unlikely)

So who will be the unlucky one's? Please have your say.

Bloody good thread.
Such a hard one. I think about this often. Murray and Montagna are always the first to miss out. I think Raph will have to wait his turn. McGough and Fiora might struggle to get in, because no doubt Thompson and Powelly are higher up on the pecking order. Peckett rarely gets a game, though when he does he never dissapoints. Leigh Fisher is in. Sam Fisher and Ferguson are insurance. Milne is on thin ice, but gets a game in our best 22, as does Guey. I'm not sure they can both be in there though. Schwatze is an unlikely starter. Baker is definately in. They love him.
The positive is that such a luxury of riches can oly propel these players to fight for their spots. Quite frankly I can't see too many changes to our finals side from last year. There is one spot, Heath Black's wing. As to who gets it, I think Leigh Fisher's your man, or Fiora if Fisher plays down back, with Bakes tagging.
Not easy is it...

There's your answer, and i believe that Goughy will be given his opportunity in the Wizard Cup.

Peckett- will find it extremely hard to break into side
Hamill- Definite starter
X. Clarke- Needs to work really hard to get his spot off Montagna, Milne, Guerra and Fiora
Thompson- Should start on the bench like 2004 season
Jones- Definite starter
L. Fisher- He should start in the back pocket
Hayes- Definite starter
Hudghton- Definite starter
Gehrig- Definite starter
Baker- Definite starter should tag midfielders all year
Montagna- Needs to work hard to keep crumbing foward spot from Milne, Guerra, X. Clarke
Riewoldt- Definite starter
Voss- Definite starter
Ball- Definite starter
Gram- Will find it hard to break into spot, i believe he needs to beat Fiora
R. Clarke- Will find it hard to get a regular game, needs to prove he can play and use his skills every week
Powell- should start on the bench but needs to work hard to get a game before McGough
Goddard- Definite starter
Penny- Definite starter
Murray- Will never get a game with the saints again i believe, unless something amazing happens
Fergurson- Very unlucky not to get regular game, he needs to beat Goose to the CHB

Fergurson- Very unlucky not to get regular game, he needs to beat Goose to the CHB possy, and thats a very big ask.
Koschitzke- Definite starter
Brooks- Will find it hard, to get a game, needs confidence
S. Fisher- Very much like Fergurson, but needs to beat Penny to FB role and would find it hard to get a game in the foward line
Dal Santo- Definite starter
Blake- should start on the bench each week, very quality and solid contributer
Stone- Will not get a game, unless something amazing happens
Maguire- Definite starter
Guerra- Spot far from secure, neds to work hard and beat Milne, Montagna, X. Clarke and possibly R. Clarke
Harvey- Definite starter
Pfitzner- Wont get a game unless something amazing happens
Schwarze- Will struggle to get a regular game, will be waiting for injuries. (touch wood that never happens)
Milne- Will start foward pocket, but needs to secure spot
Ackland- Needs to prove he can play a ruckman's role, and swap with Blake or Koschitzke. Needs to prove himself.
Fiora- Needs to prove himself, and work hard for the spot on the bench and work his way up from there
McGough- Needs to prove himself, and work hard for the spot on the bench and work his way up from there
McQualter- Needs to prove himself
Gwilt- Needs to prove himself

That game he got injured against Richmond where he only played the first quarter IMO was fantastic, bursting through the middle with heaps of speed, racking 6 possesions in the first quarter. Does anyone know about his delivery though?

he loves to kick long, i have never seen him kick short ever

I've been mates with Sam Fisher since we were about 10 and he is a gun! It embarasses me how good you guys are when he looks like he can't get a look in. He would probably start at CHF if he played at the hawks. Do you guys want to loan him soccer style to us for next season?

Yeah he has been doing extremely well with springvale. Given limited opportunities due to our unlimted resource of talls. but when Maguire, Gherig, Penny, Kosi were all out against Bulldogs he got his chance but didn't perform but it's impossible to have to step up especially when you pretty much know your only gonna get one game a couple at the most

Just watching the first Wizard Cup game of 2004, in which Gram played most of the game before he copped a hamstring injury.

He gave 2 or 3 very accurate short passes out of defence in the middle of the second quarter.

I didn't remember this myself until I sat down and saw the game again myself, as he does seem to prefer theb long kick (and, with a kick like that, why wouldn't you?), but his short kicks are just as pinpoint accurate as his longer ones.

This guy is a star in the making, mark my words.
