Upgrades - Who & When

Last year i burnt my trades and didn't go into the season without a fixed strategy in place. Not this year though. Nope.

It would be great if people could share thier experiences, success & failures and general strategy about how to approach upgrades.

Judd will be a target of mine. Being suspended for the first few rounds means alot of other teams won't have him and will his price drop?

If Chappy misses a few games mid season i might bring him in as i think Geelong will be trying to get everyone right for September.

Who else will people be keeping an eye on as a target???

at the moment on my list (which is bound to change) i see my biggest cash cows being;
Maguire
Beau Waters
Jetta
Barlow
Martin (hopefully he will turn into a keeper as will Barlow)
Wonamerra (if he doesn't line up rd 1 though he won't be in the side)
Shuey
Warnock

my potential upgrades are
Nicnat
Medhurst
Ziebell
Tippett (maybe)

So many things happen as the season unfolds and nothing works out as you plan so my advice is not to try too hard to map out a trading strategy with specific names that goes weeks ahead but, instead, instill discipline into your trading by follow rules like:

- don't sideways trade
- work on your weakest point first
- watch break evens for falling premiums
- always upgrade to a premium
- etc, there's lot of rules people follow

If mapping it out with names helps focus you on not wasting trades then do so by all means. Just expect that within 1 week the whole world will have changed and a whole new set of options will come up.

I think it's also important to decide up front whether you want to upgrade fast to chase an overall ranking or whether you want to hold back to peak in time for league finals.
