Upgrading HDD

Im a casual gamer but still find time to enjoy my games. My PS3 is the 80gb with a small amount left. I can see how to upgrade the HDD on you tube, no problems there. But if I buy a HDD from US will it work?
Can anyone give some ideas on HDD that are OK for both PS3/4. Thanks. Links appreciated.

HDD's are universal, so yeah you can get it from the US, but the shipping costs will negate any savings you make.

$87 (p&h included) compared to $140 odd in nearly every store in Australia Amazon

This is the one I've got in mine & the one most people go with as it's a 2tb version of the same model in the PS4.

They're easy to take out of the case & install, I can track down the YouTube clips I used if you need further help. If you don't damage the case during the switch you can turn the PS4 one into an external.

Whatever you do get a 2TB one, I got a 1TB and I'm regretting it.
