This is the same article as Toots' Ben Jacobs thread. Can we shift the mono-player reports to Club 1870 or something?

No way. The Jacobs and Curnow threads are buddy threads. A mix of serious and banter. They should stay on the main board.

There are already fully serious threads about each player on Club 1870 .

Yeah nah. Its not like a question is even posed, or that there is anything relevant that anyone could post about them now that wouldn't/shouldn't/couldn't go on the player threads on Club 1870.

Shit, what was your first post on Curnow? Yearbook details and a youtube link and thats it. Club 1870 through and through. No question posed, nothing.

Either Curnow, Jacobs threads belong in Club 1870, or nothing does and we dump that subforum to bring in the PAMFC one.

I think for pre-season these type of threads are OK here - if it wasn't for these, this board would be dead, or at least comatose.

Michael Pettigrew thread on Club 1870:- Sixteen posts in just over 3 years.

Mitch Curnow buddy thread:- 26 posts in a couple of days.

They are threads with a different purpose. Player threads on the Club are about creating a record about that player. Buddy threads like the Curnow and Jacobs threads are as much about having a bit of fun as anything serious.

Re: Watch Out for Big Red

What was fun about your opening post in the Curnow thread? Where was the impetus for discussion? There was no interesting question, no new information, no new photo or video content, or even a humorous monologue.

I guess what i'm saying is, its offseason, but I'd still rather read nothing than get updated on a board full of crap.

Posts =/= Worth

Re: Watch Out for Big Red

I see what your problem is, you didn't read past the OP.

Also, next time I'll start with something like "Mitch Curnow, is he the most promising ruck talent on our list?" instead of "Talent:- Extreme". :)

Re: Watch Out for Big Red

No, I did, and it seems that despite a shoddy start, people tried to make it something. So what? That just encouraged you to start another ho-hum thread on Jacobs. And then who else will follow your lead?

What I don't want to see is 50 ****ing Buddy threads filling the main forum, duplicating information already available, when there is a subforum that is already EXACTLY DESIGNED FOR IT.

Re: Watch Out for Big Red

Can't see any danger of that happening. We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one I think.

I don't think it will become a problem. Toots is the only one whos made any buddy threads so far.

I can understand Porthos' gripe, but there isn't much news floating around, so a couple of threads that aren't particularly informative, but provoke a little discussion aren't unwelcome.

Given you've seen it every year you know the buddy thread novelty dies off after the new year Porthos.
