I'm a newb at this so hopefully someone has a simple fix.

I have installed Wordpress onto a new domain in the control panel of my host (using Fantastico). I then downloaded and installed Filezilla to upload files to site.
I can't seem to get Filezilla to connect to host - it just goes on an endless loop of trying and failing (connection timed out, could not connect to the server).

In filezilla site manager I have tried both mydomain.com.au and ftp.mydomain.com.au, and entered my hosting log-in details.
**didn't enter port as the useless pdf I was following said not to bother and I wouldn't know the port anyway.

Anything else needs to be done?
If I have missed something obvious what is it?
If I have got the above right, any other suggestions?

All input appreciated, thanks in advance.

If your router is doing the DNS resolution then FZ might not be able to resolve your domain.

It doesn't sound like it is even getting to authentication so the username/password is not an issue.

Try using the IP address of the server and port 21, this won't work if you have shared hosting.

Where are you trying to connect from? A home network or at work? At work they will probably have port 20 & 21 blocked on the firewall outbound.
Make sure you bypass any proxies you have set up.

Check the FTP server config on cpanel.

If all else fails, Cpanel has a web uploader on it where you can upload files.

Thanks TH.
I am connected at home. Will explore your suggestions.
