In an era when Australia produced some of Rock's greatest frontman he was one of the very best. Loved The Angels, and loved Doc.

RIP Legend.

No way...well you know the rest. Thought he'd gotten through the worst. RIP Doc

Need a thread on GD to educate all the whipper snappers about the angels and those other bands that pushed them.

i remember at blue light discos in thee early 80's when a certain song came on.

Am I ever gonna see your face again

NO WAY
GET PHUQED
PHUQ OFF

This band shattered the perception of Australian music riding the coat tails of the US and the UK. Songs like Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, No Secrets, Shadow Boxer etc shaped a generation and beyond.

Vale to a true music legend of this country, vale Doc Neeson

3 bands out of Adelaide that made music in the 70's & 80's have a sound completely unique.

If you went to a Cold Chisel gig in Port Adelaide on a Thursday night, you would probably get into a fight. If you went to an ACDC gig in Pooraka on the Friday, you probably would go visit a brothel. If you went to an angels gig in Theberton on the Saturday night you'll probably end up in a gang bang.

AC/DC, Cold Chisel, The Angels an later on Midnight Oil.

IMO, in full flight, The Angels were the best of them, particularly live.

All over it on fb… very saddened :( as I've been a TRUE Angels fan since the mid 80's.. seen 'em over 20+ times which includes 1990 (10x).

At least Doc died with dignity intact.. more than what others 'on a higher plateau' regards popularity/ record sales did..

I can see The Angels / moreso Doc Neeson legacy exploding tenfold in the coming months.. hope the legalities are set.

Ergh. Very sad. Met him after a Mötley Crüe concert he was supporting in and he signed my tie and shirt. I'm a very big angels fan very sad

All my friends would face palm and get the shits when it was my turn to chuck on a cd. Rest in peace big fella

Just bought the 40 greatest live hits last week. Not sure if it's the production or my new UD player, but the old stuff sounds great.

My first Angels show was on the 1986 Liveline tour at the Enmore. There was a cardboard cutout of Rick Brewster in place of the real Rick. Doc smashed it over and fooled a fair few of the audience into thinking he'd decked him for real.

After that I saw them multiple times over the years, mostly at Selinas. The best gig was one of those, The Angles, Rose Tattoo and The Poor. The show's done, the encores are over, the lights came on and the audience streamed out. Then we heard the opening bars of "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again" and Doc yelling "We couldn't resist this one". We all charged back in and got back to moshing.

There's something special about being in a 3000 strong crowd screaming out "No way, get ****ed, **** off" at the top of your lungs.

Vale Doc.

Saw them mid-80's, can't remember the venue, Noiseworks in support. Doc had broken his leg the previous week and rather than cancel, he did the entire show sitting on a gigantic throne. To the band's credit it was still a great gig.

Had the great pleasure of seeing them many times in the 80's.
The Doc and original band at full tilt playing Mr Damage at Narara captures the essence
of his stage presence at its best IMHO.
Link below. Turn it up loud!
RIP Doc.

One of their best tracks, very atmospheric. Didn't expect it to come up as well as this on a bootleg.
