Sad day for all footy followers, Neagle was a sensational player, always loved the way he played, loved it even more when he came to the mighty Swans.
54 yrs old way to young, best wishes to Family, rest in peace.

Yeah horrible news, I saw the thread title and got a shock as he was too young. A bloody truck crash.. terrible. Makes you appreciate life a bit more.

Dashing player and should have won a flag for us

Yeah, we had a dreadful finals series in 86/87, knocked out in straight sets both years, although no home advantage didn't help. Anyway, it was all a bit before my time and it's sad to hear about Merv Neagles passing despite not getting the opportunity to see him play.

Saw him play a few times but was only 6 or 7 so can't really remember much of him. He's obviously highly thought of though.

Their are always one or two players at other outfits you would love to see decked out in The Regal Red and White. And for Fu The Free Loader there were two such types of the bombers 80's edition. One being Leon The Byword Baker, and the other that Man Merv Negale. Then one day it happened, Doc's dosh delivered Negale north to South's Sydney setup and Fu's pheromones flowed.

A dynamic midfield marauder of the highest order - farewell to a fine footballer and fellow.

Merv has a history within my local area. He was Captain/Coach of the Bulls in their 1996 Premiership year. He came back to WA as coach in 2010, then last year he and Donna (wife) spent a week here as a friend was in need of some special people ... she'd just lost her husband from cancer.

That's the kind of Tru Blu Merv was. Footy mad, loving and devoted family man'n'friend.

RIP Merv Neagle.
