Time for this antiquated cow paddock to be put out of its misery. Give it's meetings to Mornington which is approaching city class facilities, turnover and track surface. Thank christ the Pak cup has been moved to Cranbourne because my Father in laws horse is in it and we may never have seen it again .

True. There just isn't any need for a course there, with the five (I think, Flemington, Caulfield, Moonee Valley, Sandown, Cranbourne) city tracks plus plenty of country ones. Now it is longer a country track, but is too far from the city, so it has no natural base.

They had trials on it last week and Riders/trainers had concerns then but the Stewards gave the track the thumbs UP


Because of the money spent I'm guessing that Everything will be done to get racing back to Pakenham

And so it should be too. Pakenham is one of my favourite tracks. It might not have the facilities of Mornington, but it has a country atmosphere at a location close to town.

Track rationalisation is a thing of the past in Victoria. I think Woodend was the last track to go. When Werribee had troubles eight years ago everything was done to keep the track open - it now hosts VRC midweek meetings (and the facilities there for the public/members are woeful). Traralgon RC has gone bust, but the VCRC still have three meetings on the track. Remember when Mornington was reopened - the first meeting was called off because of a bad track.

The media have a thing against Pakenham, pity they don't criticise a club like Werribee whose grandstand and indoor facilities are shadows of the 1970s, and they don't even have training facilities on course.
