In case people in Amateur footy have been living under a rock, former Amateur player, umpire and administrator Peter "Agate" Harris passed away on Monday after a long fight with serious illness.
Everyone would know of "Agate". It wouldn't be a normal day at Elsternwick Park without seeing him there doing something. The place when I was there, was his baby.
His playing career was at the now defunct Alphington football club. From there, he joined the umpiring ranks and right until the late 90's, could be found umpiring matches. He was a life member of the VAFAUA and of the VAFA.
To his family, I send my wishes and condolences.
He is a MMMAAAAAATTTTEEEE. And I'll miss him.
